Who would be your ideal dinner party guests ( no smut please) and why..

Recommended Posts

Jona Lewie, to keep an eye on the kitchen.

Lesley Gore, just to annoy her by saying "No it isn't Les, it's mine" every time she opened her gob.

Billie Piper, well she wouldn't be there, but I'd call her up and let her listen in on the festivities.

Pink, but not right at the beginning, obviously.

The Beastie Boys, to explain to the gendarmerie when they come to close us down, that disturbibg the neighbours is a human right.

Public Enemy, to duff the fuzz up if the Beasties logic and sweet reason proves ineffective.

Andrew WK, to show us all how it's done.

Noel Coward, to inform everyone exactly when to leave.

Difficult; there are so many.

Philip Marlowe (most attractive man in fiction ever; would sit next to me and HE'S NOT GOING HOME AFTERWARDS)

Maggie Smith, ideally in Miss Jean Brodie mode

Roger Livesey (played Colonel Blimp in the Life and Death of; slightly in love with him so he'd be on my other side)

Molly Weasley (the true heroine of the Harry Potter story)

Alec Guinness (his transformation info Fagin is still astonishing)

Margaret Rutherford (who I want to be when I grow up)

Trevor Howard (got a bit of a thing about him at the moment; Brief Encounter runs on a loop chez MsB.)

Jeremy Kyle (secret guilty celeb crush; I tremble with joy when his voice reaches the nails-down-a-blackboard screach)

Flora Poste (heroine of Cold Comfort Farm, would manage Kyle beautifully)

Or possibly just Alex Guinness in all the roles he played in Kind Hearts and Coronets.

(Well now I know a B followed by a right bracket displays as a smiley with a goatee beard. How revolting. Edited to delete it.)

Honaloochie, I knew you wouldn't let me down. I'd love to buy you a limeade cooler from M&S. I really would! :)-D

    • https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/funeral-for-tony-slattery I never knew what happened to Ton Slattery after the brilliant improvisation comedy show Whose line is it anyway? For those old enough you'll remember it was a mix of American and British comedians hosted by Clive (forgotten surname)... just read he sadly developed mental health issues that impacted his ability to work but that he'd had much better last few years and been doing comedy tours again in the UK. His partner is fundraising for the funeral but as he remains special to many who grew up watching that show he's got far more than the original target amount. His partner and he had been together 40 years. Amazing and heartwarming love...
