Can we have a big hand for Mr Nick Clegg ?

he has singlehandedly ensure that the LibDems are unelectable on the national stage for a generation, but has now killed off any chance of fundamental change to the current FPTP system and at the same time, wiped out the parties headcount & influence in local councils.

I can understand Cameron - he does what you would expect for a rich toff with a background in PR. I can understand Millband - with his MOR Socialism lite & North London ways. Clegg has been exposed for what he is - a smug little ambitious, moral and principle free shitehawk.

*slow handclap to those sporting victims faces *

It's hard to see how Clegg could have played his deputy PM hand any worse. All he had to do was - occasionally - not look like he was enjoying it so much, but alas it was seeping out of every pore for all to see.

By contrast the Cons have played a near perfect hand, and must be weeing themselves with joy over the results so far.

Yes potentialy the worst hand ever, makes you wonder about the rest of the party he leads if he sits at the top, christ knows whats below him? Worse still he is our deputy prime minister.....bloody terrifying actually.

Anyone seen James Barber this morning ? I heard he was keeping his head down in a boat on the middle of Dulwich Park Lake ? apparently the pro AV's are huddled in a boat next to him with captain 'Philip VI of Huguenot' at its helm.

" come in No13 your time is up "

I wouldn't be too quick to gloat.

Clegg is Cameron - only minus the coaching. And Cameron's got the top job, not just the joke deputy PM job. That's the really terrifying part.

So you're rejoicing that one sharp-suited PR drone with no real principles was better at PR than the other one.

Some victory.

The thing is that the electorate has now pretty much ensured that the coalition will run the full course, unless the Tories try their hand at an early election. The LibDems would need to be suicidal to pull out and force an election at this stage.

My guess is that Clegg will go at about year 3 and then a new leader will be installed to try and give the party a new face for 2015.

The Tories and the SNP are the only winners from yesterday. Slight increase for the Tories in council seats (against all expectations) and a win in the referendum. LibDems suffered the election from hell. Plaid Cymru went backwards. Labour failed to capitalise in England and had a disaster in Scotland, though almost pulled it off in Wales.

Cameron, much as I hate to admit, has played a blinder.

    • https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/funeral-for-tony-slattery I never knew what happened to Ton Slattery after the brilliant improvisation comedy show Whose line is it anyway? For those old enough you'll remember it was a mix of American and British comedians hosted by Clive (forgotten surname)... just read he sadly developed mental health issues that impacted his ability to work but that he'd had much better last few years and been doing comedy tours again in the UK. His partner is fundraising for the funeral but as he remains special to many who grew up watching that show he's got far more than the original target amount. His partner and he had been together 40 years. Amazing and heartwarming love...
