mockney piers
In my experience it's been consistently rubbish for the last 6 years.Slow, often poor service, cold overpriced food and aforementioned snootiness.Fine if you get a bottle of wine from the bar and take it to an outside table yourself on a nice day.Otherwise avoid. Spangles30
In a way it is reassuring to find that it seems to be a lot of people who have received this snooty treatment at The Green. I thought it might have been just me and my friends - obviously not! downsouth
And I thought it was just me. I was contemplating starting my own thread. A friend and I went to Black Cherry last night after taking a stroll of the Lane. EDT seemed a bit sticky and the food menu was poor. Black Cherry was great. Perfect in fact. Definitely my fave place on the lane so initmate and relaxed and friendly waitress who was on her third day. Anyway I digress, afterwards we went to the Green so i could show my friend some of their wine and beer. But each question we asked was met with derision and contortions of the waitresses face. plus she was busy on the phone to an acquaintance. Needless to say we were only there for a few minutes but knowing my friend if we had received decent service he would have bought a few good wines to take home. Can't say I'm in a rush to be made to feel like that again. nancysmum
I had a birthday party there and they were great. i then went and had a drink there and the waiter brought me something completely different to what i ordered and told me it was my mistake. i then went there with a friend and her child who proceeded to projectile vomit...what goes around, comes around!anyway, they make really horrible coffee there!hx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1704-the-green-bar/page/2/#findComment-48391 Share on other sites

Keef
I have to say that the one time I ate there (about 3 years ago), the food was very very nice. The service was sh!t though, I remember them forgetting my meal, and not offering any apology, it was like I was rude for expecting my meal to come out with my party's. AllyCat
Don't they do jazz there some evenings? Has anyone been? mockney piers
Give it a go, I actually used to go a fair bit as it was Huguenot's local.Grit your teeth at the service (or go to the bar) and avoid the food, and enjoy the jazz! seanmlow
Personally I don't like to have to 'grit my teeth' when I am paying good money to drink/eat somewhere.I am on a personal mission to boycott this place.
