MrsAk
Hi everyone,I am trying to decide about whether to buy a Tripp trapp highchair - I'm very interested in buying the newborn set to go with it (baby is due early may). My husband seems to think it will be a waste of money but I wanted to hear if any one recommends them before I buy!Thank you! prickle
Not sure about the newborn set but the high chair is definitely worth it 18 months+. My 9.5 year old is still using it and no sign of growing out of it either! candj
Very worth it. My children still use theirs and I bought one for my youngest when he was a month old with the baby pod thing that clips to the top. bawdy-nan
very worth it - especially up to about 6 (or more if they're a bit wee) as it means they can properly and comfortably sit at the table and they have good resale value because they're almost impossible to break. sillywoman
Though you have to watch out they don't push themselves & chair off from the table, thus tipping over backwards - not good! Also ours drive Mr S mad cos the legs stick out & he still, even after 10 years, trips over them. Still, 10 years on & they look as good (food particles aside) as the day we got them. crystal7
Yes! Love ours, and means E has always eaten at the table with us also love the fact you can push it under the table- very tidy. Next time would buy the from birth seat bit too, wasn't available when E was born... Pickle
Yes, we've got two for our kids (4 and nearly 3) and I can see we'll use them for years yet. Easy to keep clean, look nice, and good for their posture too. susyp
we were just discussing at dinner how good ours is - if you keep on the plastic bits they don;t tip back noticed that one my friend has tipped back and I don;t think it had the extra plastic bits on. susypx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16708-stokke-tripp-trapp-high-chair-is-it-worth-it/#findComment-426772 Share on other sites
vez
Don't have one but friends and family have them. Yes, they are nice but they all said that for weaning the plastic highchairs with the big trays are actually more practical. My nephew (2 years) definitely prefers his Ikea Antilop highchair (only around ?11).Just to give a slightly different point of view, but love the design myself... MichelleT
We have a baby dan high chair which is basically a poor man's tripp trapp - we wanted something that would look nice in our kitchen/dining room and would last for more than a year or two. As we are doing baby-led weaning my son eats directly off the table. Fidgetsmum
We only said last week how good ours has been (my daughter's 3.5yrs and uses it all the time). In fact she loves it so much so that when we broached the subject of her new baby brother one day using it, she refused point blank and said he'd have to have his own one. They're not cheap but definitely worth it. And the baby set is brilliant for as soon as they can sit upright. Ondine
My kids are 13 and 10 and their Tripp Trapps remain in daily use as computer/desk chairs - seriously good buy! poppy
new mother Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Errr no clearly not worth it when you read so many> postings about tipping back....They now come with extended gliders that you attach to the bottom of the feet which stops this problem. I have a VERY wriggly toddler who does try to tip his back but it has never toppled. I think the extended gliders shift the centre of gravity in such a way that it can't.I have invested in a harness though after he climbed out onto the table aged nine months. There is a non-removable bar which he uses to push himself up on so the harness has been essential for us. Otherwise we love it! bawdy-nan
I can honestly say I don't know what this "tipping back" thing is. The chairs have 2 flat legs on the floor and, as far as I can see can't tip back - they're very very stable... Pickle
We don't have extended gliders (to the best of my knowledge) and have never had a problem with them tipping - and if anyone is going to manage to tip herself backwards it's my constantly wriggling 3 year old! crystal7
My little escape artist has never managed to tip backwards, I think we have the extended gliders though (they just came with the chair?!). njc97
We've got one of these that seems to do the same at tripp trapp but costs less.We also got an IKEA antelop which is much easier to clean, you can take to bits and take on holiday with you etc. But did get too small when our son was c2.
