Magpie
Traffic light timings at the Plough junction are causing long tail backs down Lordship - yesterday was awful - it increases both noise and air pollution for residents on Lordship Lane (of which I am one), as well as making it unpleasent for anyone walking by. I have emailed TFL, but the phone line I can find is for emergencies only - does anyone have any thoughts? Siduhe
Magpie, only to say that I have noticed this too over the last couple of weeks - it seems as if the lights going from Lordship Lane towards Forest Hill have been rephased so that there are two different phases of green light - a "normal" phase on green which lets about 5-6 cars through, and then the next phase on green is very short (only 2 cars can get through). All of the phases coming the other ways (both from Forest Hill towards Lordship Lane and going from Barry Road to Dulwich Village and vice versa) seem to be operating the way they always did.Maybe try contacting James Barber - he has recently posted about the phasing of traffic lights in ED. KidKruger
yeah it's a nightmare the last couple of weeks, if you're coming from forest hill you can't turn into crystal palace rd or landells rd for the long queue of traffic stretching back from the lights. Jamma
The phasing is fine in the morning but changed by evening rush hour for some reason. Who does one raise this with?? Bic Basher
I was stuck in the traffic at 3pm for 5 mins from just behind Crystal Palace Road. So it's phasing differently just before the school run. Siduhe
That's interesting, because the revised phasing also seems to be operating throughout the weekend - which doesn't make a whole lot of sense given the reduction in traffic levels. Sally nen
We live on Lordship Lane, near The Plough and have endured this for the last few weeks. It's really unpleasant. Yesterday we 'phoned Southwark Council; the guy answering was helpful and took down an account of the problem. We got the feeling that it is a TFL thing; odd because it will be affecting their buses. Anyway, he did request the Council get back to us on this, once and if action was taken. We'll see what happens. Bic Basher
If it's not the phasing of the lights at the Plough, it's now the temporary traffic lights between Overhill Road and Melford Road for Gas works that suddenly popped up on Saturday morning. Magpie
I have also contacted James Barber on this - and spoke to Southwark Council, who said it was TFL, and then TFL said its Southwark! I believe James reported it on Friday, but it was still a problem yesterday, and this morning. I watched the lights for about 5 minutes yesterday - it goes green for a literally a matter of seconds to let a couple of cars through, then for every few cycles it will stay green longer and clear some of the backlog. James Barber
I've just been told that yesterday at 11:12 TfL traffic light engineer believes he fixed the problem.Yesterday evening it looked fine.IF anyone thinks it isn't fixed please tell me ASAP.The formal TfL response will be sent to Southwark Council 11 April. Siduhe
It was much better yesterday evening at around 10pm when I was heading home. The last couple of weeks there has been a backlog of cars down towards Townley Road, even at that time. Last night there were only a couple of cars waiting. Bic Basher
Back to normal when I went past at 3pm. Just the new set of temporary traffic lights which have now been installed on LL by Court Lane. It never ends.... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16508-traffic-at-plough-junction/#findComment-425553 Share on other sites
