Dear all,

We have relocated back to London since July and now live in North Dulwich at Red Post Hill.

It was always our intention to send our children to the nearby Charter School and that's why we moved to here. However, I just found out that my youngest daughter who will only turn 11 in this October will not be qualified for secondary school admission in September (although she did finish primary education in June before our relocation and was the youngest in her class). Anyway, I have to start the primary school search from scratch as previously I only focused on secondary schools. I found Dulwich Hamlet Junior School quite a good school but the admission office of Southwark Council said the school is full now and will have to put my daughter on waiting list only. The admission office asked me to name a few other primary schools that we prefer and they shall contact the schools to find out if they have space. Can any parents here share any insight about other good primary schools in the Dulwich area, especially the ones that are near to Red Post Hill? Do you any good schools that may have space for in-year admission for Year 6?

Grateful for your advice. And many thanks in advance.

Best,

Hi Polingc,

I hope you found a suitable volleyball club for your daughters. Judith Kerr has one year 6 class. It's a bit different to the other schools as it's a bilingual English/German school. I've heard positive reports about it and the other schools mentioned above. Heber may be another school to add to your list. All of these are popular schools with local parents.

Good luck.

Renata

Do you mean St Saviour's Primary School which is just off Red Post Hill on Herne Hill Road?

St Faith's is the local church on Red Post hill.

    • I've read this thread and made notes! So many useful tips! Would anyone have a recommendation for  a place that sells good quality topsoil that would also be able to drop from a tipper? 10 cubic meters minimum. Thanks in advance and any further advice on garden centres with good selection of shrubs/climbers would be welcome, I plan to visit them all. Garden is fully dug up with drainage just put in.
    • I reccomend Crab Salad-I used to have my hair cut by the owner when he was at Blue tit in Peckham...I moved with him to Cs when he opened it. I've had other stylists there when he was'nt available on the date I could make and they're all excellent. Its a nice vibe too-just very relaxed not too 'hairdressery' (If you know what I mean) and I've reccomended it to neighbours and colleages who've all been very happy. Its not the cheapest but nor is it super pricey and they use good products too.
    • I went last week and would recommend. I was very happy to see pricing based on hair length and especially a fringe trim price. I live nearby and don’t need it fully styled / blown out after a cut (curly so usually prefer to do it myself) so I like that it is variable pricing in that way.
