Blue Traveller's Van parked in our street

Recommended Posts

Don't worry, Rubyshoes, no doubt quite a few people out there silently sympathise with you but don't want to get sucked into the argument. If the original post had appeared in the Lounge section, I wonder if you'd have got the same response?

Has anyone spotted this guy? He's been parked-up on Friern Road for the last week or so.

I had a word - he says he's insurance broker who works in West Norwood - and he's just living in the caravan temporarily whilst he has a new bathroom fitted.. but I'm not so sure..

Nooooooo! but I'm amazed how all very 'good on yer, little englander' the normally bonkers daily mail commentators are on this story.

I only look at it on line to catch up with the latest insane conspiracy theories.

I understand The Dog Kennel Hill campers are just there temporarily to be within the Dog Kennel Hill and Charter catchment areas.

That's because he looks like this:

The comments would be slightly different if he looked more like this:

How did I miss this thread?!

It seems like this man just used his initiative when the chips were down. As long as it's legal then why not. Maybe that's what pisses you off more Rubyshoes- that he has an imagination and doesn't follow the herd? Hey maybe we're all the fools for paying all the crap that we do?

It's actually quite a genuis idea, though sadly alot of people who find themselves in a tough position might not have the money for the van in the first place :-(. Good on him though. Obviously if he's causing noise problems that's a different scenario but you can get that with any neighbours, and that's due to the individuals not being thoughtful or respectful, nothing to do with the abode they live in.

@kidkruger lol spot on. So many 'daily mail reader' types attempting to impose their draconian values on others. Look out! They're probably doing drugs in that van. Or filming pornography! Some people here are making that age old mistake of raising their beliefs to the status of truths where in fact they are just opinions. The only, the only real issue here is the potential of being disturbed by an engine running all night. Seems to be a lot of high horses people need to get off in ED. Ho hum.

Why, is Pilch a Daily Mail reader then? Is that the irony? I still don't see it, sorry.

Don't see anybody here attempting to impose draconian values on others apart from the OP and sympathisers?

Everyone else appear to be more of the live and let live persuasion .....

I reckon assuming and labelling people who might not want someone living permanently in a van outside their own house as 'daily mail' types sounds like raising beliefs to the status of truths where in fact they are just opinions that's all.

Oh OK, fair point I suppose, but I think if you researched the opinions of Daily Mail readers you might actually find that there was some basis in fact in what Pilch said :))

And - they guy wasn't "living permanently in a van".

    • I had no idea about the sourcing of the paving stones - where is the info on this? The extension of the paved area seems completely unjustified- plus, there is a cycle lane right thru the middle so there are bound to be some near misses with pedestrians.
    • That's really awful. There must be someone further up the management chain who could be made aware of this?
    • I'm assuming that anybody who has a cat can afford  its food, litter, vets' fees etc. Nobody was saying that two quid is "nothing", but it's cheaper than some brands of cat litter, so was hopefully useful to the OP. Still, hopefully your post made you feel better 👍 🤣 We still don't know why there was a bag of cat litter at the bus stop! Surely it would be rather difficult to take it away unnoticed if the owner of the cat litter was  also at the bus stop? It's not like someone distracted your attention and picked your pocket and you didn't notice till some time later! But what is also confusing me is, if the OP knows where the thief lives, why don't they go and ask for their cat litter back?
    • The market is only there for a few hours on Saturdays! Surely all street markets are "a bit tatty"! That seems a strange reason to close a road permanently to traffic!  There is already at least one seat  in North Cross Road (which seems to be quite well used),  apart from those for customers of The Palmerston,  and several of the shops in the road have greenery outside
