Peckhamgatecrasher
First two look like Heygate flats just near East Street, Walworth.Last two look like Hilly Fields, Brockley. ??? downsouth
Def not Heygate estates they are grey not golden in colour. Agree last one looks like Hilly Fields. penultimate reminds of Upper Sydenham. The top ones do remind me of the estates on the hill above Over/Undehill Roads but never been up close so couldn't say. cathg
Amazing stuff. But what I can't get over is the fact that having just checked his date of birth John Thaw is only 32 in those pictures. How come people aged so fast in the seventies?Maureen Lipman's jacket is nice. Regan
Right. I can see the cemetery but can't place any of the surrounding area from any of the Sweeney episodes.Anyone any idea which episode it was or anything particular about the episode ?Cheers Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1645-filming-location-in-dulwich-1974/#findComment-45655 Share on other sites
smith
Sorry don't have any more info. I saw an old episode a few years ago and recognised it because I once lived in Honor Oak Mansions. Seem to have a vague recollection of the John Thaw character swigging from a bottle of scotch... but couldn't swear to it! I think a funeral scene was filmed in the cemetery too, might be the same episode? Incitatus
The Episode called 'Ringer' was filmed at Dulwich Hamlet FC, Peckham Rye Station and Bushey Hill Rd.Choice quote from that episode Jack Regan - "We're the Sweeney, son, and we haven't had any dinner - you've kept us waiting. So unless you want a kicking, you tell us where those photographs are" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1645-filming-location-in-dulwich-1974/#findComment-45735 Share on other sites
Regan
Thanks Incitatus.I covered those locations earlier in the year, including Meeting House Lane. There are a couple of other locations that were used in the episode RINGER. As soon as I get chance, I'll post a couple of screen grabs - see if anyone can identify them !Filming that episode was a bit of a nightmare. One reason being that Alan Lake apparently hit John Thaw for real in one of the scenes which resulted in stuntman Peter Brayham giving Lake a bit of a pasting behind the scenes... fish
Truth is stranger than fiction and Meeting House Lane is a sinister place, with certain 'cafes' under the watchful eye of Peckham Police - the Station is just up the road and, yet, things still go on .....? PeckhamRose
Spooooooooooooooky I just wrote about Dalston Heights being a great location for film crews. I said it was also a great place for to watch fireworks, then I wondered into this topic and guess what. It's blinking Dalston Heights again. OK that's weird. No, really, that's weird George. I'll get me coat. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1645-filming-location-in-dulwich-1974/#findComment-45922 Share on other sites
rifleman harris
In order to answer the question on Regan looking old; as i kid i used to get the Sweeney paperback books. The opening line from one was "Regan was 36 and had been on the piss since he was 18". thats probably why he looked old. dogkennel
Long-time reader, and I've just posted my second message now in a matter of minutes.I got waylaid into reading about the episode of Ringer (the very first episode proper) - and it's actually going to be repeated this weekend on ITV4, Saturday at 10pm, Sunday at 3.55pm. I'll get to see the old Dulwich Hamlet ground in all its glory. Not sure if the hyperlink to the page will work - http://library.digiguide.com/lib/episode/Ringer-9578 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1645-filming-location-in-dulwich-1974/#findComment-46221 Share on other sites
