I think I'm braving myself to splash the cash on one of these for new baby.

Do you think its worth the extra money for the Bee Plus (about ?65 new, or quite a bit more second hand)?

Also, I'm assuming I won't need the cocoon as baby is due in May and it will be warm. Is it essential for a newborn? I'll have the car seat which clips on so can use that as well, and a sling (and am not planning mega walks all day with it).

Thanks v much.

I have the bee and have mixed thoughts! In terms of the cocoon though I think you would need it, only because the seat itself is very hard and the cocoon provides a soft and flat surface for the newborns to lie on. Without it I'm not sure how comfortable it would be in the flat position, it would also be very exposed which isn't bad in terms of the weather but your baby might feel a bit exposed without any edges, I know mine hates not having sides around her!

My baby out grew the original bee at 12 months old much to my annoyance. If you tend to have big babies et the bugaboo plus it is much bigger where it counts and will last you the whole three years. Its also easier to fold up and keep in parent facing mode. You need the cocoon for a newborn even in the summer as the seat is not designed to take little babies without it. You just lie them on the cocoon with the apron off.
I have the Bee Plus and love it. I had my baby in a sling for the first few months though and only got the buggy when he was old enough not to need the cocoon; initially I had him on a sheepskin. The expandability of the Bee Plus is a real bonus - I can see there's loads of room for growth which I know was a problem with the old Bee. If well cared for your bee will retain its value second hand as well, which a cheaper buggy would not.

i have the 2009 bee model. my little one (16 mths) still has plenty of room in it.

the nest pads out the seat and makes it very cosy for the baby - my little one would go straight to sleep when we went out for a walk (a good way to get them to drop off when they are young!!!)

the nest also means they can lie flat - so we often took baby out to lunch/dinner with us as he would just sleep in the bee as he found it so cosy. actually we still take him out for lunch sometimes at the weekends as he is happy to have his lunchtime sleep in the bee! (although we now have the cosy toes on it). just a tip - enjoy being able to go out for lunch/dinner/meeting people for coffee when they are still sleeping lots and not on the move!

My friends one did that until we pointed out you have to pull the handle up until you see green stripes.

I have bugaboo bee plus which is great as so compact but only issue which has affected quite a few of the plus's is the front wheels would wobble if you tried to walk quickly we took it back to John Lewis who actually fitted wheels from a bugaboo bee that fixed the problem. This might have been corrected as bought mine last year.
