Thought I'd put my prejudices aside and have a look in Whie Stuff on Saturday.

Oh dear. The men's section looked a bit like Debenham's circa 1995. An assortment of dull stripy tops in shades of grey and brown. There was one decent bag in there - a dark brown satchel-type affair. But it was ?85! So I won't be wasting my time going in there again.

So what is the consensus on the women's stuff? It looks a bit better to me...

If you were to purchase a wardrobe in there then you would look pretty poor but I find the, how shall I put it, softness of the colours a good base to match with other clothes. I think they are fine... (and until any competition at all exists for male clothing in the area, summat is better than nowt)
James, if you are at the next drinks, i better not stand by you, you little trend-setter. I popped into WS a few weeks ago and thought that i could easily buy quite a lot of their stuff ("debenhams circa 95" or otherwise) IF I could afford it. That'll be another trip to the Mind shop for me, then.

Got to disagree, sorry. I quite like their stuff. It's not high fashion, nor does it proclaim to be. It does go for the preppy-surfer-shabby-chic thing which, I grant you is not everyones cuppa, but I'm pretty pleased with my one purchase.

It is a little over-priced but not compared to its direct competitors such as Jack Wills.

The staff were helpful and the shop front is quite attractive. I might go back for the odd thing now and again but I wouldn't advise anyone to have a whole wardrobe from one place including White Stuff.

Edit: I agree about Banana Republic though...great place (and hats).

I am with Mr Carnell on this one. I didnt think I would ever buy anything in there, as polo shirts and rugger tops are just not my thing. However, when I popped in to have a look inside I found a decent looking shirt and thought what the hell, I will try it on. Its got to be one of the best made shirts I have bought for some time, fits like a dream. I was certainly with you when they arrived James, and still wouldnt wear 90% of the stuff in there, but I love my shirt..

Not been in WS yet, do they do decent shirts? I have my wedding suit, and shoes sorted, but need a nice shirt, and all the ones I keep seeing are jsut sh!te that you expect to see city bankers or chav estate agents wearing...

If not WS, any suggestions on where to get nice (not not tooooo expensive) shirts?

I don't have one, but I see no harm in "man bags"... I personally prefer a record bag though, it tends to do pretty much the same job (less the umbrella) ;-)

    • By now you’ve hopefully seen that our main demonstration against Trump’s state visit is in London on Wednesday. Many of you have also asked, though, about how you can help ‘welcome’ Donald Trump to Windsor when he arrives there tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. So here’s the plan: We’re asking you to come and line Windsor High Street tomorrow in a peaceful, static protest.  Time: 6pm, Tue 16 Sept Location: Assemble outside Windsor Parish Church, High St, Windsor SL4 1LS and then spread out along the High Street. Grab some cardboard and a pen and make a homemade sign to show Donald Trump and his supporters what you think of them!  The world’s media will be in Windsor to cover the state visit, so showing visually that he is not welcome will send an important message far and wide. If you are coming then please join this Signal chat group for important updates.     Protest safety Please buddy up and come with someone else You have a right to peacefully demonstrate, but we are expecting a high police presence. Remain non-violent and non-confrontational, and do not talk to the police. It may be better to dress inconspicuously, not like an ‘activist’ We plan on ending at 7.30pm. Please leave in groups of 5–10 and make sure you have a bust card This action is entirely legal but we still recommend that you read this key advice when going on a protest to know your rights. Remember:  No comment No personal details Ask ‘under what power?’ No duty solicitor Don’t accept a caution Here is the protest support line: 07946 541 511 and here is more information on Stop & Search under the Public Order Act.   Thank you for being part of the movement against Trump. In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
    • We booked a day when we could drop around 8 bags. They directed us to use the rear entrance on Carver Rd. I would definitely ring as they don’t seem to have much space at the back. Our experience was great, they were very polite and thankful.
