I suspect you are about to be PM'd all kinds of bribes, blandishments and offers of marriage and would like to congratulate you and say you lucky, lucky, lucky sod.

Then why are you reading/commenting on a thread about Olympic tickets??!

It's very simple - if you are interested in certain events/Olympics then you apply for tickets. If you find it boring then you don't.

My comment that we are lucky is based on the fact that millions who wanted tickets didn't get any. We managed to get tickets to something we enjoy watching.

Do you go to every thread and make comments on whether its boring or not? 'Football's boring...', 'primary schools are boring...' 'cycling is boring...'

Your post is very odd.

Is horse racing in the Olympics ?

I mean that's not boring ( is it ? )

N:-S

We got in on the dot of 6am. Moved around freely for 2 mins and then - bam - the rest of the UK got on and the whole thing ground to a halt. Judging by the error message, one server at least fell over in that time. Like Chippy then next half-hour was spent sloooooowly getting what we wanted and a lot of pressing the F5 button the retry.

In the end we got beach volleyball, basketball and handball. BUT! The email said 'thanks for your application' - the bloody tickets aren't confirmed yet! So much for the first come first served they promised. It's not as if airline websites and concert ticket websites do this ticket thing every day, is it?

Piss up and breweries spring to mind. Coe should resign over this ticket fiasco.

airlines and concert ticket websites don't face that many millions hitting refresh constantly and simultaneously

anyone applying for glastonbury tickets in the mid 2000s will be familiar with the routine tho. When you have that many millions applying at THE SAME TIME - you can't feasably and economically install that many servers

I don't think they mind at all in resigning becouse what they have now permanent they don't want to loose for a something temporary and beingn use.

And they have been around together for many years. When they say long run and many good contrancts they mean they have been togehter for many years and a they have good plans for the future so anything temporary wouldn't work for any player as they have a lot of things and plans to achieve right now.

Shame things gone for the wrong direction some people can't leave without the lead.

I've sized and designed server farms for web apps. It is not rocket science. And can be done economically in the cloud age.

Or, if you can't handle a million or so people hitting your website at once, then don't design a business process that will make it happen.

have a word with Michael Eavis for me as well then please

But I have never, ever managed to buy a ticket for any event, in any country where demand was so high that wasn't compromised in exactly this way. And I'm not aware of any business process that gets around it either. When they tried to avoid the worst excesses by having a lottery first, people were hacked off about that too

There are so many people hoovering up anything they can, I bet next summer there will be plenty of tickets knocking about when people realise they aren't interested in watching Handball at 9.30am on a Tuesday morning after all.

Worth trying www.sportsworld.co.uk. They are official re-seller for the Denmark Olympic organisation and as Denmark is in the EU they have to honour applications from other EU nations. They are not offering any at the moment but from time to time they do release some tickets and I managed to get a morning rowing session and evening athletics through this route.

Think they also do packages / tours but they are quite pricey and you need to book a hotel which kind of defeats the point if you live here.

    • Hope all the ‘high streets for people’ events went well! Very short notice probably for people living in the area and on a very hot day!  James McAsh just doesn’t know what to do next with Southwark Council Tax payers money. He advocates the few streets in the area that has a bus service and then shuts the routes down! Very annoying for people who want to go about their daily business and have already had restrictions brought in by McAsh.
    • Thank goodness for Greg. I had an awful situation whereby I was notified that water was leaking from my flat into the flat below me. I was 150 miles away at the time and had a panicked journey home not knowing what I was going to face.   I called Greg (after seeing reviews on the forum) as soon as I arrived home in the evening and he arrived just after 10pm and was able to shut off the problem. He had to come back to finalise the job which turned out to be caused in a communal area whereby there was a blockage in the stack pipe.   Greg worked quickly, efficiently and informed me every step of the way as to what he was doing and why. He also cleaned up really well afterwards.  Greg's charges are very reasonable and he will definitely be my "go-to" if I have any other plumbing issues in the future.
