taper
A 'good homeopath' is an oxymoron. Homeopathy is good for nothing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16339-homeopathy/#findComment-420693 Share on other sites

taper
Would it be more "helpful" to maintain the fiction that homeopathy is of any medical use? It clearly isn't. aspidistra
Crikey, do people still believe in three witches mumbo jumbo? I though most people on here could read and write by now... and hence look at the evidence. Oh well, there's one born every minute, I suppose. Saffron
IrishNKiwi, I'm sure this is a difficult time for you with your daughter being ill. Illness in children often makes parents feel upset and desperate to help. You should know that the World Health Organisation does not endorse homeopathy in place of convetional medicin for serious childhood illnesses. Homeopathy works on the placebo principle, which means the patient must be self-aware and aware of the treatment. A child of 12 months will be neither of these, so homeopathy will not change anything except your perception of the illness (placebo by proxy). However, that shouldn't stop you from seeking other types of alternative / wholistic therapy. You might want to investigate osteopathy, reflexology, baby massage etc. If you choose to pursue any herbal treatments, you will need to let your regular physician know. Many herbal remedies can have side effects in infants and also interact with conventional medicines.xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16339-homeopathy/#findComment-421235 Share on other sites
Smiler
How about a nutritionist? Might be able to advise on healthy eating etc. to help with immune system. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16339-homeopathy/#findComment-421297 Share on other sites
civilservant
It is very distressing to have a sick baby, and I hope she gets better soon. You don't say why she's been prescribed so many antibiotics, but clearly your GP is not helping the situation.I'd suggest that you ask for a referral to a decent paediatrician. Your money would be better spent on seeing a proper doctor privately if you can't get an early referral. Saffron
Because there are no regulatory standards for homeopathic preparations, there is no quality control for contamination. While low-level contamination would not be likely to be extremely harmful to adults, it's worth bearing in mind that it could have profoundly negative consequences for infants. Probiotics treatment seems the most promising to counteract antibiotic SE.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20674842http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2014-03/25/homeopathy-contains-medicinehttp://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD004827.pub2/abstract Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16339-homeopathy/#findComment-830592 Share on other sites

david_carnell
Think you might have missed the point Youngrach - it's nonsense. It doesn't work. At all. Nadda. Nothing. So the people who continue to sell it are now either idiots or scam artists or both. And dangerous. Dulwich Born And Bred
Hi, just to advise with all the antibiotics you might want to add some baby approved pre/probiotics to enable the little one's immunity to build back up with friendly bacterias since antibiotics will kill off the good and bad bacterias which can sometimes cause illnesses to recur . I always ensure we replace the good bacterias when we take antibiotics and touch wood , it has worked .
