KidKruger
Heading down there later and was wondering if there is something in the same ilk as Everest Curry King in Lewisham or just something a bit different and budget, etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/163334-any-cheap-interesting-places-to-eat-in-penge/ Share on other sites
Jennys
There is a somewhat tongue in cheek website called Penge Tourist Board that has suggestions. Bovine Juice
I do live nearby. The conservation area with the 5 cute roads of cottages are there plus the almshouses. You've also got the Alex pub and Nurseries for beer/food and cake/coffee/plants on your doorstep. In general terms, everywhere that side of the High Street is good, the other side can be hot and miss. He is going through a painful separation and is in a bad way. This Penge restaurant might be a better option for him. 10 minute walk. Bovine Juice
Note it's mainly a takeaway with a tiny seating area (10 people max). Lovely people run it and really great food but it's very small. malumbu
Alex pub was waiting for kitchen to be sorted (relatively newly opened). Alex Nurseries should concentrate on selling plants rather than having unecessary conversations with customers (maybe a one off but I wont be going back).Maple Road had some great boozers some selling food - that was some time ago so not sure how its changed. You are an easy walk or bus ride from Sydenham and four award winning restaurants Vegan carribean (yes it does work, and BOYB) http://www.calabash-culture.com/#/about-us/4558013157The DolphinNepalease https://gurkhacuisine.com/Trattoria Raffaele https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/neighbourhood-italian-crowned-by-tripadvisor-as-londons-best-restaurant-a3187601.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/163334-any-cheap-interesting-places-to-eat-in-penge/#findComment-1166674 Share on other sites

Bovine Juice
Alex pub's kitchen has been up and running for a while now and the food has proved very popular. Surprised that somebody took offence in the Nurseries. The owner and staff are amongst the nicest people I have ever met. I suspect it sells more coffee and cake than plants but is terrifically popular. I popped in on Sunday and the queue to be served was about 10 people long so I gave up.
