Found dog in peckham rye park today, it was tied up for 3hours at the park and had seen no one interact with the dog in that time. I presume it isnt wanted. If anyone knows of its family or has lost it please contact me on 07971141197 i will be able to keep it for awhile but wont be able to keep it for long.

can you describe it Kamila in case it rings a bell re having been previously seen with owner?

Ive seen a lot of new dogs in the park recently, including escaping ones.

also if it became lost and someone tied it up because it was near road and they thought it would be more easily reunited?

hi ya first mate - dog warden is aware as they were contacted within the first hour of the dog being tied up ( right outside the wardens office ) and one of the wardens was kindly organising transport to a shelter, and also to check for microchip etc. Am wondering if she was originally stolen and then dumped as she appeared well balanced, socialised and trained, if excitable/stressed ? Fingers crossed the original owner is found if that's the case... only speculation though. Huge increase in abandoned pets during the last couple of years - very sad. Hope you find her original home if they are missing her Kamila. x

BWM- Thanks for that- glad appropriate peeps aware.

Your theory about dog being stolen may well be correct- on the other hand, may just be abandoned by someone who tied it up where it would be likely to be found by warden. As you say, huge increase in abandoned dogs as the economic tide turns. Kamila, please let us know if dog is reunited with owner and well done for taking her in.

Hi ya First Mate, ....cats too,..... last summer we were handed 5 kittens, less than 5 days old, found dumped by wheelie bin.... hand reared them over the summer as no nursing feline could be found,3 hourly feeds during the night....yikes! However now ruling the roost at bowwowmiaow HQ and Co..... x

Anyway, back on topic - sorry to digress - paws crossed someone is missing her and checks the forum x

I have taken her to the vet straight away to check if she has a microchip but there wasn't any. Funny enough she has been spade - I checked her tummy. I also thought that she has might be stolen so going to look on the doglost website now.

She is a very lovely girl, pretty well behaved, she is staying with other dogs I am looking after and she is doing great. I would keep her if I could have another dog but at the moment I cant...

Agree with the above, thank God people like you are around and that the dog wasn't left unnecessarily long.

It's a bit like newborn babies being left at a site where they would assuredly be found before too much harm; it's too much of a coincidence that she was left outside the warden's office, they knew someone like kamila would notice. My dog's not chipped but is never left alone and never strays when walked, it's nice to know there are so many careful owners out there.

Let's hope the dog is reunited with her family or at least placed with another appropriate one.

Just to update you on how Nana (that's her new name) is getting on...

On the whole she is a very very sweet and loving girl, she is use to the car and she knows the sofa well :) She already responds to her name, great off the lead, very calm at home, great with the rest of the pack of my dogs.

But she needs someone with experience as she likes to be bossy towards some other dogs.I think it's also because she is still a little bit nervous and confused, everything is new to her.

So please if you know of anyone who would like to adopt her - let me know. I will not give her to anyone, it has to be a responsible home.

Here are the links to the adds, I think it's fine to show her pics now.

hey kamila,

I have a load of pedigree chum tin food-11 cans meat chicken, beef and lamb in gravy, we just got a rescue dog a few weeks ago and this food doesnt agree with his stomach, so would be very happy to give it to you if you thought nana might like it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Nana is still with me and I am sure lots of people have seen me walking her with my pack in Peckham Rye park. I had a couple of people interested in adopting her but it didn't work out :'( So Nana is still looking for a new home although she feels like my home is her home now. I already have gotten very attached to her and I it will be very difficout for me to let her go but she has to find a new home...I have so many dogs staying with me during the day that I raelly can't have an extra dog, I really wish I could have...So please, if you know of anyone who is thinking of adopting a dog - give them my details. 07971141197

Here some pics of Nana

    • Just last week I received cheques from NS&I. I wasn't given the option of bank transfer for the particular transaction. My nearest option for a parcel pick up point was the post office! The only cash point this week was the post office as the coop ATM was broken.   Many people of whatever age are totally tech savvy but still need face to face or inside banking and post office services for certain things, not least taking out cash without the worry of being mugged at the cash point.    It's all about big business saving money at the expense of the little people who, for whatever reason, still want or need face to face service.   At least when the next banking crisis hits there won't be anywhere to queue to try and demand your money back so that'll keep the pavements clear.
    • I think it was more amazement that anyone uses cheques on a large enough scale anymore for it to be an issue.    Are cheque books even issued to customers by banks anymore? That said government institutions seem to be one of the last bastions of this - the last cheque I think I received was a tax rebate in 2016 from HMRC.  It was very irritating.
    • I know you have had a couple of rather condescending replies, advising you to get to grips with technology and live in the modern world. I sympathise with you. I think some of us should try to be a bit more empathetic and acknowledge not everyone is a technophile. Try to see things from a perspective that is not just our own. Also, why give the banking sector carte blanche to remove any sort of human/public facing role. Is this really what we want?
