East Dulwich Train Service

Recommended Posts

I'm fed up with the train service from East Dulwich to London Bridge. Every morning I stand there, shivering in the winter months. it's late. No reason given! Is there anything, we, as a thriving community, can do to improve this frustrating and appaling service?!

Not sure if it still is, but during December and January the 8.16am train to L Bridge from Peckham Rye (so I guess 8.13ish from ED) was consistently 10/15 minutes late. Same morning, same train, late by the same time - what's more, trains either side were on time.

The local Southern Manager has an active thread on this Forum and has done so for some time. If you have any specific queries - ask him.

A generalised whine doesnt do anything constructive.

I find that the service is generally good, I have used ED station for over 20 years and there have been significant improvements especially over the old Connex service.

    • That would be a reasonable attitude as regards the management, but my experience is that the posties are doing the best they can but are woefully understaffed (there's no cover for sickness or leave, and some walks have no regular postie assigned) and, despite denials, packages are prioritised over letter post. Posties can only physically carry parcels to far fewer addresses than letters, which means even on existing walks they don't take letters out wit them if they are carrying parcels. Because they cannot walk to the DO (in Peckham) they have to drive there and back, with two or 3 walks worth in each van. Making covering another postie's  walk that much more difficult.
