jumpinjackflash
I watched the Chris Morris film '4 Lions' last week and again this weekend. It's absolutely hilarious. Has anyone else seen it? Would be interested to see if anyone was actually offended by it given the subject of the film ( Jihad Islamic terrorists). If you haven't seen it you need to..haven't laughed at a film like that in years! Wino
Yes and I enjoyed it.Brave of Morris to do it in terms of topic. Most of our current comics stick to 'safer' religions rightly or wrongly.Film did not condone the subject matter but put it into 'human' context. Not a deep film by any means but both extremely funny and reasonably thought provoking.I regularly use the innovative avoidence tactic for face recognition CCTV when out and about in London...... taper
I like Chris Morris a lot. But I thought it was rather gentle compared with his usual approach. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16132-four-lions/#findComment-417319 Share on other sites
jumpinjackflash
Don't mean to sound ingnorant but what other films did Chris Morris work on?Move closer to the camera it will bigger it Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16132-four-lions/#findComment-417323 Share on other sites

Wino
taper Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I like Chris Morris a lot. I think that it worked better as a feature length film because of this.I am a big fan of Morris and enjoy all of the radio and television stuff but the format for these is shorter so maybe needs/is best with the more full on approach. Having said that Nathan Barley is the only thing that I have not got into as yet. Don't know why, but it doesn't grab me. Only seen a couple of episodes so maybe need to revisit.CM has without a doubt the twisted brain-wrong of a one-off man mental. PeckhamRose
And the documentary about kiddie fiddlers. It was actually about the media treatment / news items about kiddie fiddlers. aspidistra
Thanks jumpinjackflash. While I was bored to tears in a bus in the Regent St/Haymarket/Trafalgar gridlock on Monday, I saw your post and managed to figure how to order the movie from Amazon on my mobile. And it arrived yesterday. Been meaning to see it for ages. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16132-four-lions/#findComment-418068 Share on other sites

uncleglen
It made me feel uncomfortable and a young relative of mine thought it was in bad taste. Too close to 2005 really. Sue
Parts of Four Lions were very funny. But mostly it was absolutely heart-wrenching.Why on earth has this thread been revived three and a half years on? StraferJack
BecAuse it was the closest thing to a Chris Morris thread. I didn't want to start a new one just for the news link I posted Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16132-four-lions/#findComment-788789 Share on other sites
Otta
First time I watched Four Lions I didn't find it very funny at all. Second time I found it hilarious. Weed. Jeremy
I liked it. Bad taste? It's pretty tame by CM standards. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16132-four-lions/#findComment-788815 Share on other sites
Otta
I didn't think it was in bad taste at all. And the scene where the thick one is showing them how he used different voices and hid his beard whilst buying bleach is genius. El Pibe
I thought it was excellent. Exposing the tragic absurdity by stripping away the hyperbole. Superb, poignant, funny and a little bit scary when you realise it's practically a documentary. Jeremy
Many laughs from the fact that three of them are basically overgrown children, who talk absolute nonsense and have no understanding of what they're doing or why... and then you think "yeah, that's probably about right". Jeremy
See that? That's a sex shop, US Embassy, or some other such slag utility. When I say, you fly to the target.
