Quote required for Central heating powerflush

I have been recommended by British Gas to have my heating system powerflushed and a magnetic filter installed. Their quote is very high - almost cheaper to buy a new boiler. Can anyone else quote for me?

what's the basis for their recommendation, do you think it is valid and not just BG doing their utmost to harvest some cash off you and others who they tell the same tale ?!

(sorry if that sounds cynical, but BG do seem to 'offer' many just-in-case services, few of which may actually be needed)

I think there is some basis to it as the water is black when it comes out when you bleed the radiator. The boiler is 20 years old but still works well so I am not about to do anything in a hurry - just wanted to get other quotes. I am waiting for boiler to die before I replace!

Just install the magnetic filter no need for a power flush. The filter will attract the particles. At the next service clean the filter and put it back in. Then happy days.
