In the past, I've steered away from using the cots hotels and apartments provide on holiday as i think I once read it was dangerous and also feared it was a bit disgusting if the mattress was stained with other children's sick etc. But now with a toddler (who still quite likes sleeping in a cot) and a baby, it's impossible to take two travel cots away on holiday with us so fear I will have to use the one provided in our room. I also hoped the baby might sleep better in a proper cot for a week rather than the rock hard travel cot.

So is it that dodgy to use the cot the hotel provide as long as I use a mattress protector and fitted sheet?

I would say if the cot provided by the hotel looks dirty/unsafe/generally grim then ask them to replace it with a better newer one. This happened to us on holiday and when we asked if they would put their own children in it to sleep they soon sent somebody off to get a new one! We were paying extra to have a cot provided so I think this is fair enough.

    • Hi does anyone have a Hotwheels track (ideally which packs away neatly like the fuel can or transporter one) they've been itching to get rid of please? Needed urgently for an emergency birthday present!    Thanks!
    • Glad to hear that the cops are taking crash for cash seriously.  The situation I am aware of the driver called the police, reported it separately as dangerous motorcycling, avoided all calls from 'ambulance chasers' and subsequently got a letter from the police saying it was an unregistered rider/uninsured rider.  It was reluctantly reported to their insurers who actually did not put up the premium which was a nice surprise. So as stressful as it may be just hold firm, deny everything, take down details and report to the police.
    • Hi I am looking to join some local businesses networking events and wondering if anyone can recommend any. I know there used to be one (Cooking with Scissors) but that’s not running any more. Thanks.
