Sunflower76
Hi there,I have a 9month old and am interested in using the pool facilities at Dulwich Leisure Centre.I've heard before that the pools are very cold. I'm wondering if the refurbishments have improved the temperature?Does anyone take their babies in the pool? Thanks,Mel Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15919-dulwich-leisure-centre-are-the-pools-warm-enough-for-babies/ Share on other sites
charlottep
My 9 month old attends swim class every week and shows absolutely no signs of being cold. She is very happy in the pool. She does have a little wetsuit though. The temp did start off quite chilly but it's pretty good now. new mother
Charlotte, do you mean a real wetsuit? or one of those sun protection suits? If the former, it must be freezing still...thanks for clarifying as my little one will not deal well with a very cold pool and I want her to have good experiences of water etc... alicinha
I also have been taking my 9 months old baby to swimming class and the water is fine, not cold, not too warm (like Peckham Pulse). But there is a problem: the changing rooms are FREEZING and after swimming is a big old rush to get baby warm and dressed before you get a chance to get yourself warm and dressed as well. charlottep
New mother, it's one of those wetsuits from Jo Jo, not a sun protection suit. But there are many babies in her class in regular swimming costumes and they all seem pretty contented. Must say that I don't find the family room particularly cold either, but maybe that's just me. Although being Portuguese I would have thought that my tolerance would be lower? In any event, I have been very happy with the whole experience at dulwich pools - my toddler and baby seem very happy too. prdarling
I think Dulwich is fine for what will end up being a 20 minute swim, a 9 month old in a wetsuit will be fine. The hydrotherapy pool at Peckham Pulse is much warmer if you think your baby will prefer that Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15919-dulwich-leisure-centre-are-the-pools-warm-enough-for-babies/#findComment-413461 Share on other sites
nancyse15
I took my 9 month in there last week in just a swim nappy and he adored it. Changing rooms were a bit on the nippy side though!
