Thanks, that's interesting to read. I went to school overseas, and DH is just generally clueless about these things (bless 'im). Sometimes I wonder if I'm having an 'AIBU' moment, because I don't always know what to expect from local schools. We were definitely not allowed to handout invitations during school hours at my childhood schools.

My daughter's school doesn't seem to have a policy on this. Different teachers appear to handle it differently. This means that some teachers are letting children handout party invitations in class at the end of the school day. I think this is a bad idea for a lot of reasons, but I wondered how other schools were handling it. xx

No policy at our school - I normally just ask my daughter to try to hand them out as subtly as possible when they go in. I don't think her definition of 'subtle' is quite the same as mine though... Mind you, she's also been on the (non)receiving end when other kids have been handed out invites in front of her and she's not had one, and she didn't seem unduly bothered by it. I guess they just learn quite quickly that they can't be invited to everything: no big deal.
I'd been worried about my daughter getting offended st not being invited to a party, as well, of course, of upsetting someone whom she chose not to invite to her birthday. I was relieved to learn that it seems pretty much by the by - and my 8 yr old is definitely a sensitive sort! Her class /school seem to hand out invitations before or at school.

    • Elliot just fitted 5 internal doors for us and the process from start to finish was excellent. He was very quick to come back with a quote and to fit us in for the job. The job was actually completed in the time quoted which was very refreshing!! The work completed was of the highest quality and great value. We will happily recommend him now to friends who need carpentry work completed in the future
    • Peter and his team did excellent work on my flat in Nov 24 sorting vents fans and dampwork. The suggestions he made for sorting the damp have proved very effective for a long-standing and tricky problem. Efficient responsive and well priced.
    • I started this petition about 10 years ago in relation to the Heygate 're-development' (which was corrupt to the core imo). Unfortunately it didn't change anything. But the stats quoted are still shocking. Southwark ended up making a loss on the sale of a hugely valuable piece of central London land and turfed many, many families from their homes in the process. It's the same story - you have massive property / development companies, who manage to completely out manoeuvrer / run circles aorund councillors, often destroying communities and doing very little to make properties more affordable or address the housing crisis. Rather, they add further 'heat' to an out of control, international 'property investment' market. We need more council housing - high density, but mid rise imo.
