Jah please tell me you didn't listen when he said "don't go to the pub tonight, give us the money"... I'm relying on you man. (I was too little to be going to the pub, but had I been older, that very sentence would have had me reaching for my coat).

It should be pointed out as well that the machine lordship_bod mentions is a new machine which, whilst an improvement on the old ZX Spectrum they were using, is often out of action but not obviously so. Ie no messages but it keeps you waiting for nearly 5 minutes before saying Operation Timed Out

what about the cash points at sainsburys? i cant however guarantee the the money from them is organic locally produced stuff so obviously not suitable for a lot of forumites, and one would probably have to drive there, hence leaving a carbon footprint and even worse than that one might be tempted to actually go into the place. shit what was i thinking of just forget everything i said.

Beware of the right hand HSBC card hungry machine. Both myself, and a friends girlfriend have lost cards in that hole in the wall. .Card goes in then the thing reboots "press F2" etc etc. card stays in and machine sits on standby. Lucky for me (and also quite bizarrely) while shouting and thumping it a voice from within asked me if my card was stuck. The talking machine turned out to be someone locking up so i got the card back but it was just luck that I got it back.

Went to Somerfield tonight and tried to get ?50 cashback, but was told I could only have ?20 because the management had been asked so many times for large amounts of cashback because of the cruddy state of affairs with the cashpoints nearby. The assistant said it was the first time this had happened and would probably not last longer than today. Nero

    • What I don't understand is those that are clamouring for this says there is an urgent need for more teachers yet they also say there are lots of places at schools for the children leaving private school due to dwindling pupil numbers (at primary especially). Surely then the teacher "gap" can, in part, be plugged by this?   This does seem a very blinkered, dog whistle attack on a certain part of private education and it will be interesting to see how the courts (and Europe) views it. Given the government accelerated the rollout to happen in the middle of a school year (which no-one thought was a good idea) probably shows they may not believe they are on strong ground - it feels like a "beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission" situation.
    • I have tried Ancestry (library) and Findmypast (library and paid). They both pay for archives to digitise some of their holdings. Forget details, Both has things other doesn't but think Ancestry is ahead. I found the search facility frustrating - you needed to play with options a lot.   My dad did research before these sites existed which was harder work but more fun. I recall instances where Ancestry made wrong assumptions (something like mire than one John and Joan Walker in same town).
