41drummer
Agree, its not going to get any better at least for the next 3-4 years as services continue to be cut. Its very sad, but this area is no different to other parts of London. It may be more "pleasant" in places but there are the same underlying problems.More Police visibility on foot (rather than patrol cars) might also help. I rarely see any in London at all. Penguin68
Until we have any ideas what were the circumstances/ causes of this tragic event/ events (if the incident in the car park is related, which does seem likely) speculation as to some underlying 'cause' - particularly related to recent political decisions about future expenditure (none of which would have had any impact to date) seems very much out-of-place.Dreadful things can happen anywhere, and for a multiplicity of reasons. It is likely that people locally of similar ages to those injured/ murdered will be badly affected by these events, whether they knew the victims or not, as will parents of young people who habituate the area. They are going to need reassurance and support that this sort of incident is very unusual, not just here but anywhere. DJKillaQueen
Any murder is awful but it is also true to say that when guns and knives are involved it's often criminal/ gang related. Gangs and the crime rackets they protect have always existed in London and London is far safer than it was 100 years ago.Personally I find it hard to understand how anyone can extinguish someone's life so needlessly (self defense excepted of course).Whatever the story is (sure it will emerge over the next few days) it's very tragic. paul32A
Narnia - Just commenting on the ridiculous statement of ryedalema who somehow thinks that the fact he was in the area 5 or so hours before anything happened meant his kids were somehow lucky to have avoided their untimely deaths. Seemed just a tad self-important to try and feel part of the whole sorry tale. prdarling
Paul, ryedalema could have been commenting that she was glad her two children hadn't viewed it. The Minkey
I heard from a lady who lives right by there that as well as the lad who was stabbed and died, one youth was shot and is in intensive care, and another injured. It was something to do with the 18th birthday party which was being held in the Tower Hamlets Football Club nearby. Horrific. DJKillaQueen
It may well have just been a teenage argument that got out of hand, but sadly it seems these days, that's all it takes for some to commit murder. jimmyay
The usual cheap waste of life. We don't get it so much around here but in some parts of London this happens every week. Why do young black males do this to each other? Its beyond pathetic and so so tragic. What the hell are the parents doing. They turn a blind eye to the culture their kids are falling into. Suppose we can be right on & agree this crime is all the fault of the tory cuts though, rather than the parenting or any effort for individuals to look out for their kids or change the culture they live in. For God's sake. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15499-man-stabbed-to-death-near-east-dulwich-station/page/2/#findComment-405415 Share on other sites
