Ladygooner
Just in Sainsbo's doing my weekly shop - a day off and its raining yet again - and over the tannoy comes this announcement "Can Sharon Stone please come to Customer Services"! Domitianus
Sorry to disappoint you but Sharon Stone is a rather dim and unattractive shelf-stacker on work experience. On the other hand, when I was in Tesco on Old Kent Road recently there was an announcement "Would Harvey Keitel, film actor and screen legend, who has taken some time to join us in the roll of a humble in-store janitor to research his latest film role, please go to aisle 7 where a child has vomited." And guess what..... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1546-famous-people-in-sainsburys/#findComment-42797 Share on other sites
James
When I used to work in Boots we would make announcements like "Would Mike Hunt please return to the pharmacy." Which amused us a lot (well, I was 16). Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1546-famous-people-in-sainsburys/#findComment-42800 Share on other sites

david_carnell
I did see Jeremy Bowen in there the other week. He looked rather dishevelled. Probably just back from Basra or something. zephyr
Don't know if this is the case here but many years ago I used to work in a supermarket and we had codes for all sorts of things. Things like security to checkout X or if someone was trying to do a runner a particular call to alert certain staff. BarryRoad
In Disney stores, I think 'customer' means 'shoplifter'. I forget what they called actual customers though... All the staff are cast too. Domitianus
When working in government offices above a large shopping centre in Belfast we soon learnt that the announcement "Plumbers to the basement, please" meant there was a suspect device somewhere in the building. You may imagine my dismay when I heard this announcement being made whilst sitting on the loo, midway through a lengthy commune with nature! Domitianus
What happens if there really is an Inspector Sams (perhaps a police officer of same rank, or someone who work for the Inland Revenue) and he or she gets fed up with going up and down to the basement for no apparent reason? Surely this is somewhat ill-conceived as a policy? Why not just come out with it "There is a bomb in the building. Run like f**k!" Siduhe
downsouth Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> "Inspector Sams" is the code on the underground.'Inspector Sands' I think - fire alarm activated in the station. There is a different one for suspected bomb alerts which is even more innocuous (and doesn't come up on a quick google).
