The quiz was very slow running quiet good as it enabled us to carry on with our scrabbling Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1542-the-plough/page/3/#findComment-47928 Share on other sites

Jah Lush
Had a splendid lunch in the Plough yesterday, several pints of London Pride, Morroccan lamb chops on a bed of couscous and a very quaffable Australian Shiraz. EDOldie
Sounds good but I was a bit put off as I thought it was run by Mitchells and Butler that also run the Dog in the Village. I did venture in shortly after it reopened in the hope of it becoming my local again but was unimpresssed by the service. Am I wrong? Is it actually independent or part of another chain? Jeremy
It is a Mitchells and Butler pub, so I guess it's technically part of a chain. M&B also own the "Goose And..." chain, so the big reopening was really just a rebranding. I think they also own All Bar One, O Neills, Hollywood Bowl, and probably others too. SeanMacGabhann
tis a bit more than just a re-brand I would say. I mean they changed the name of the Goose back to The Plough for a while - that was a re-brand (for all the good it did)i know the current incarnation is from an M&B template but it isn't even remotely similar to what was there (service could be quicker tho I agree) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1542-the-plough/page/3/#findComment-48868 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Yes you are right of course, SeanMacGabhann... before the refurb it was a complete toilet. Was just responding to the previous poster's question as to whether it's part of a chain or not. Barry Rhode
Quick questionMe and the missus once "discovered" the old Plough about a year agoIt wasn't very pleasant - one could say it was "chavvy", depressing and dusty with the smell of a grandmother's bedroom mixed with stale beerNo that it's gone all posh, where do the previous clientele hang out? Domitianus
The previous client?le has been removed by a group of exterminators to a resettlement camp for the incorrigibly scummy! It's a good question, though. Since the Bishop became posh and the Palmerston followed suit and now the centre of the ED yob universe , The plough, has been sanitised - where do you go if you are an aggressive, bigotted, working-class English thug?
