babealicious
Hi, I just wondered if others shared my concerns or had similar experiences. My son is currently in a reception class at a school in the area and is generally happy there. However, he has recently had some issues with a class mate, and as a responsible parent I asked if I could discuss this with the class teacher, who seemed to know nothing of this incident. I am now aware that the class were not taught by the teacher the whole day of this incident, and indeed did not have any teacher but a teaching assistant, and apparantly this occurs on a regular basis. I am really concerned about this because as lovely as the teaching assistant is, she is not a trained teacher. I am now wondering what I should do. Fuschia
It's not something that's not allowed. HLTAs in particular might regularly take the class and release the teacher for planning and preparation (each teacher gets approx 1/2 day p/w, more if they are newly qualified or hold specific responsibilities)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teaching_assistant_(United_Kingdom)There isn't really an issue to raise just because a TA was in charge, more it will be specific concerns if problems arose "on her watch" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15385-classes-not-being-taught-by-teachers/#findComment-403093 Share on other sites
