Not Peckham.Moot, isn't it? I'd call it Peckham Rye, given that it's Peckham Rye park and runs alongside Rye Lane. I always think of Nunhead as starting to the east of Rye Lane. Could well be wrong - pretty sure it's not Dulwich though! Otta
Depends whether you consider the bottom of Friern Road / The Herne, up Forest Hill Road, Marmora Road and the likes, as part of Dulwich. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter to anyone other than Estate Agents. Otta
And the days when people would much rather an ED than Peckham address are probably long behind us now. I suspect many younger (than me) people would rather the Peckham address these days. Abe_froeman
This map of east dulwich shows the boundary running down crystal palace road and up Upland road. http://www.2.southwark.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/11095/east_dulwich_ward_mapWhen it comes to voting all the Se22 addresses east and north of there are in Camberwell and Peckham ! If they've got a house to sell I suspect they wouldn't because rightly or wrongly the postcode would be likely to make a difference to value. You correctly identify that it matters to estate agents - that's because there is likely to be a price differential. Now... the Bellenden/Goose Green side of Peckham doesn't seem any cheaper than ED to me. It's probably more expensive than some bits of SE22. DuncanW
Abe ? that map is for the electoral ward of East Dulwich. A ward which shares the name of the broader suburb, but not necessarily the same border. Many of the electoral wards in Southwark are not named that way, such as The Lane, Brunswick Park and Faraday. I doubt anyone would identify as living in Faraday. So I don't think that is definitive for that reason. Also it misses out chunks at the bottom that most people would recognise as East Dulwich. Also, proximity to a park or common bearing the name of one suburb doesn't mean that all touch-points are in that suburb. Clapham Common is an obvious example as the western end is Battersea and the southern end is Balham. PeckhamRose
Can't resist, sorry. The Postcodes define it all. If your address is SE15 you ain't in Dulwich. Peckham Rye PARK is SE22Peckham Rye COMMON is SE15.(The Peckham Society get very excited about this when someone gets it wrong.)There are two roads called Peckham Rye: the East side is SE15 (odd Numbers) and the west side is SE22 (even numbers).Nunhead really should have been given its own postcode but of course it shares Peckham's being SE15.Meanwhile, postcodes go alphabetically. But NW1 SW1 E1 SE1 N1 (NE is outside of London) are the areas closest to the centre. But then they start from A again after a while. So you have:SE2 Abbey WoodSE3 BlackheathSE4 UmmmSE5 CamberwellSE6 CatfordSE7 CharltonSE8 DeptfordSE9 ErrrSE10 GreenwichSE11 Hnnnhhh ummSe12 LeeSE13 LewishamSE14 New CrossSE15 PECKHAMSE16 RotherhitheSE17 umSE18 SE19 SE20 Se21 DulwichSE22 EAST DulwichSE23 Forest HillSE24 who caresSE25 Lost Interest now.
