Yes members of the gym at DHFC...are told to park in this car park...and not in the parking spaces outside the gym(they are for DHFC/Sainsburys employees only)

That's a really good idea. I would suggest that people take photographs at various times (and note times and dates) to show how the car park is used. It might help your case against the development.

Good luck with fighting this folks.

Maybe this ties in with the fate of Dulwich Hamlet Football Club. An Abbotswood Road neighbour told me today that DHFC's lease on the site has only a year to run -- and that they don't mean to renew it.

Well! Wouldn't THAT open up a chunk of development land!

Slice by slice, one at a time, and one day you look up and... the whole salami is gone.

Anyhow, that aside, can anyone knowledgeable comment on the length of the DHFC lease and when it comes to an end?

Thank you, Loz. Dulwich Hamlet was where Sainsbury's is; it moves onto green land, Sainsbury's is built. Dulwich Hamlet now is to shift to Greendale (the playing fields behind its present site); housing will be built. And so, step by step, no green land at all remains.
But (and I may be mistaken as it's just a vague memory) wasn't there a ruling that no building could take place on the playing fields (something to do with being Metropolitan Land - or something)? If I recall correctly, "red" Ken had something to do with this. Yes? No? It's all very faint...

The 2015 lease appears to relate to the area behind the football stadium i.e the astroturf

Alex K - that's exactly how I feel and sadly even land designated as Metropolitan Open Space can be built on .

Alleyns built their theatre on MOL ,though it did take a referral to government ( with Southwark's recommendation that permission be granted ).

I have just received this from Southwark Council. It confused me rather but I think the gist of it is that the application for planning permission has been withdrawn as it is invalid?

"Thank you for your message about this application, and your objection.

As case office I would not normally respond to consultation replies but in this acse there has been delays due to the application being initially invalid, then it was validated and consultations started, and now the application is again invalid. This means that we are no longer dealing with any application and should the applicants wish to resubmit their scheme, we would once again carry out consultations in the surrounding area. As this application had recently been re-allocated to me I had little time to consider the application and the appropriateness of the area chosen for consultations. However, having received your e-mail I will take the points you made into account (should a new application be submitted) and ensure the roads you mention are consulted.

I surprised about that LadyGooner. Mainly because:

1) I received a letter last week from Southwark asking for responses.

2) It's status is still down as "Registered" on the Southwark site.

Maybe James Barber can shed some light?

Well:

I attended the DHFC v Romford Cup Tie tonight (we won!!!), and an annoucement was made to the effect that, following the game this coming Saturday (at approximately 17.45) there will be a "Supporters' Forum" for anyone who wishes to attend for the purposes of asking questions/making observations etc. vis a vis the proposed building project.

See you all there then!

Curiouser and curiouser --

It's cancelled, according to the council.

It's open for discussion, according to neighbourette LadyMuck.

I want so badly to believe the council but but but but...

Out of the country Saturday I am, it appears. Give 'em hell, your ladyship.

Spoke to the planning folks this morning. It would appear they haven't received all the documentation required from the developer to proceed so Southwark have taken the decision to stop the process and start all over again. Southwark planning fully expect the proposal to be submitted again in the very near future. Unfortunately it would appear that this first battle has merely been round one.

It's clear from the amount of work already done by the developer that this will run and run. It looks like they may have found a loophole to enable them to build on the car park. Given the cost of prime development land in London they are not going to walk away.

On a plus side, if Sky Sports news is correct, DHFC could end up making a few bob out of two of their players who are being tracked by Man Utd, Arsenal and West Ham.

This is the reply I got from A Dennis when I queried if they would reapply:

"I am waiting on an agreement about what to do with this. I would like to deem it withdrawn but until we do the applicant could still rectify his problem and reactivate the application, so I will chase this up but probably need to raise the issue with applicant first. Sorry I can't be any clearer at this time.

A Dennis"
