I'm assuming Silverfox means the 'Strip' portion of LL rather than the bit by the Harvester. Probably not a good idea due to it being such a Main route. If it needs to be a destination point then Northcross road would be better. Better still would be any of the residential roads which could be more easily closed to traffic.

Totally agree. I don't think that you'd get permission to close Lordship Lane anyway.

Not fussed one way or another to be honest, doubt I'd join in. And whilst I wish them every happiness, as I would any other couple, I'm really not that interested.

I'm much more interested in celebrating my own first wedding anniversary, which will be the very next day :)

From the Library down to Goose Green would be ideal. However, given the gradient of the hill for tables, stalls etc, perhaps more practical would be from the Magdala down to Goose Green and sideways along North Cross Road.

There could be clowns, magicians for the children, bands, street performers, neighbours could come together with their own picnics, local shops, restaurants could have their own food stalls, coffee/tea stalls, the pubs would be open all day.

Nah - he knows his place >:D< (and was very well fed in return)

May day celebration sounds good. Goose green the venue.

Maypole, olde pipers,morris men.craft stalls,etc.

It used to be fun until, the socialists and Russians ruined it.

Nice time to celebrate spring.

But as for celebrating with a street party,no I dont agree,

They were for Coranations and victories origionally.

Best kept in the city.

The best street parties I've helped with have lots of keen residents. The part of Lordship Lane you propose has relatively few residents.

The bus route diversions would be complicated and that a lot of bus routes diverting even for a bank holiday. Equally its main emergency service route without any traffic calming.

What would work really well is side roads having street parties and I hope lots do use the royal wedding to hold a street party. Fingers crossed it s a sunny day.

BUT if anyone is thinking of holding a street party you'll need to get cracking as the noticing etc of closing a road and getting police, fire, ambulance agreement takes 6-8 weeks and the that bank holiday is only 14 weeks away.
