Floating Onion
A bit of gaming overload AndyB?Anyways, Santa was very nice & brought me Scene It (Movie quiz) & Lego Batman. Haven't tried either yet, but looking forward to both of them.I got myself Call of Duty 5 just before Christmas & it's good fun as well. The multiplayer side is great. On a different note, has anyone on here ever payed any of the X games? They're, different. Not for everybody, but if you like empire building in space they can be great fun, if a bit slow. ed_pete
Santa was very generous this Christmas and endowed the ed_pete offspring with a Wii. As there seem to be a number of fellow Wii owners in here I thought I pose a question: I'm going to connect it to the internet and given the choice, is there much difference in performance between a wired and wireless connection ? I plan to download the browser app so I can use it to access the EDF from my Wii. Is wired best for web access or would the wireless performance be OK ? (It's OK on laptops in the house). Would online gaming (assuming we get that far) be better wired or wireless ?All advice gratefully received. SeanMacGabhann
My wireless setup is faaar from optimised (it's an old Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange Livebox) but certainly for anything Wii related it's fine. I only use the browser on the Wii for iPlayer catchups - for general text browsing the resolutions is too small for my taste. Gaming-wise I haven't noticed any undue lag with the wireless connectionWhen I need more robust speeds (streaming HD content to the 360 say) I tend to use wired connections - all else seems fine Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/23/#findComment-155425 Share on other sites
mockney piers
I do mine on a wireless connection. Wired always best, but I've rarely noticed the difference unless the missus happens to be watchin iPlayer on her laptop or uploading emails with huge attachments Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/23/#findComment-155428 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Here's an interesting little web game, move the directional circles to deflect the particles of music, to fill up the little refrain boxes and finish the tune. It'll make sense when you play it.http://www.playauditorium.com/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/23/#findComment-155870 Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
After several emd of year round ups named it as one of teh best games you won't have played, I stumped up 1500 Wii points to download World of Goo... and fantastic it is too. Bags of charm and plenty of "oooh I know WHAT to do but it's going to take me a while to figure out just HOW to do it" - very reminiscent of that feeling one had playing Lemmings for the first timeLady MacGabhann has also taken a shine to it so it had pretty broad appeal. So go download itDoooo eeeeeeet Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/23/#findComment-159610 Share on other sites
Keef
Really must sort it out and get my Wii online. You can download some old school NES games too, and I want Super Mario 2, classic! (the one where you could be Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Toad, and Peach could hover, making her easiy the best character).Had the Wii round at my sister's place on Saturday night for a little game night (I kick ass at Articulate by the way), just with Wii Sports and Mario Kart, think I sold a couple of Wiis for Nintendo! SeanMacGabhann
those are the games to do it alright... just wish there were more like themSome of the classics on the virtual console for the wii are ropier than you possibly remember, and the download mechanism is enough to drive me to... well I'm already there. But there is some good original stuff coming out on the wiiware channel for surebrowsing the EDF on a wii remains a guilty pleasure as well! SeanMacGabhann
@BBWIt's an age old debate - gameplay v realism. I've been gaming since 82 or so and can honestly say I haven't had as much fun as I have had since the 360 came out (caveat: idiot count online at XBOX live is too high and some of the blockbuster games of today are aimed at them. But when we have had Braid, REZ HD and others to delight in recent months, we can't complain either) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/23/#findComment-175597 Share on other sites
