Floating Onion
The Aliens mod for the original Doom was one of the scariest games I've ever played. A couple of people in the same room playing co-op with the lights of was nuts. bon3yard
Hmm, although greatly impressed with Bioshock on every level I dont think it really creeped me out in any way. The first appearence of The Chainsaw weilding sackhead in RE4 had me leaping 4 feet in the air. mockney piers
I loved the atmosphere in Eternal Darkness, lovely and gothic and more than a bit Lovecraftian, but it never really scared me at all.First time you meet the flood was pretty scary in halo, though that very soon switched to tedium. Keef
I think it was the levels set in the cathederal that made me a bit tense.Of course, I was over it by the time I'd finished it 3 times! ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/19/#findComment-143904 Share on other sites

microbite
Waiting for the release of Call of Duty 5 on Xbox 360 to come out in November, way hay! not my usual genre of game, but I thought it was quite realistic and the graphics were excellent on the others, (mind you did enjoy the graphics of Assasin Creed) I'm more of an Eternal Sonata girl myself and RPG gamer, sad, I know, I need a life.Just discovered this one, didn't see him before, >:D< arn't they great! mockney piers
I'm very excited about CoD 5 too, CoD4 was just spot on, and using that engine to bring it back to WW2, great stuff. You must watch the Zero Punctuation review of Assassin's Creed, he acknowledges the quality of the visuals, but does rechristen it Faffing About Creed. microbite
Mockney, that was absolutely hilarious and so true, thanks for that, does the guy actually ever draw breath though, had me in stitches! I did like the Prince of Persia games too. Guess I'm more of a pick and mix kind of gamer than just purely an RPGer Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/19/#findComment-144060 Share on other sites
Floating Onion
Mmmm CoD 5. I'm still playing CoD 4. Fantastic multiplayer.Currently debating whether or not I go & pick up Fallout 3.... It looks gorgeous, gameplay sounds good. mockney piers
He is a pretty special guy isn't he, careful, once you pop....I do love a good RPG (currently on Fable II and DragonQuest IV) but they do eat up time (witness Championship manager chap in Observer sport who was amazed at the 100 hours he'd put into the game, mere childsplay compared to the several weeks of online time I put into WoW*) and consequently I have to be an occasional player of them.*Not proud, appalled believe me, appalled. mockney piers
"CoD 4. Fantastic multiplayer"I'm sure it is, but I find the whole experience of being killed every 6 seconds by puerile american kids telling me I'm gay, somewhat of a spirit crushing one ::o Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/19/#findComment-144071 Share on other sites
Floating Onion
For RPGs I'd recommend Mass Effect. I really enjoyed it. Good RPG, with a bit of FPS flavour. If that makes sense. bon3yard
Tacky eh? Excellent game. You have to dimember your assailants with a plasma cutter, you cant just blast them in the face...gets pretty tricky when they're hurtling towards you. No Audio track either which adds to the sense of isolation and the lack of health meters etc cluttering up the screen is refreshing. As you'd expect it looks gorgeous and you'll quite often get caught offguard whilst gawping at another piece of lovely scenery. Top notch and a must buy for anyone into survival horror. Izodia
I've got mt sister and her boyfriend coming to stay this weekend. We're out and about during the day. But in the name of the credit crunch, we're planning to stay in. So I was thinking of buying a new Wii game to keep us amused...what would people recommend? (I've already got Mario Kart, Sports and Play and can't get hold of Wii Fit) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1522-gaming-room-its-a-geeks-paradise/page/19/#findComment-145411 Share on other sites
mockney piers
That's pretty much what I have (with wii fit)Metacritic is a pretty reliable review compilation site and always good for checking stuff out (music and film included)Here are the best reviewed Wii games in order.http://www.metacritic.com/games/wii/scores/I do have Zelda which if you've never played will either make you go 'Uh?' or open a whole new wonderful world for you.If you're a long term fan, as I am, it's actually the game where you begin to get pretty tired of the whole unchanged 20 yar old formula. mockney piers
Got Fallout 3 yesterday, or Oblivion Apocalypse as it should be called, or perhaps Deus Ex 3?Am undecided, but have a feeling should have gone with Bon3yard's recommendation. bon3yard
Tough one innit, my first instinct was to go for FarCry 2 as I loved the first one but liked the cut of Deadspaces jib. I'm gonna cane it this week(Housemates are away), so if you wanna do a trade in at some point in the future let me know. Great games are like buses arent they! As for The Twilight Princess, lovely game but definitely missed a few opportunities to improve on its tried and tested formula. For me Majoras Mask was the best of a very tidy bunch. mockney piers
Happy to trade for Fable II of that interests you as I don't think I'm far from finishing it.I've a couple of the johnny come lately Lara Croft things, lots of racing games, GOW1, Bioshock, COD4 and more all up for some swappage. I know I'll get it eventually, more a question of when. And when I get to play it as well.
