Hello,

Lloyds has announced closure of their branch in Croxted Road, West Dulwich in September 2017. If the proposed closure goes ahead, residents and businesses will have no alternative but to use the Lloyds branch in East Dulwich. The very busy branch in West Dulwich already serves residents from Crystal Palace whom were re-directed there after their local branch closed last year. Please sign the petition to protest against this closure.

IMO Lloyds are not helping by their ridiculous policy of only having one desk open, and other staff have to float around the lobby with their tablets. There were 8 of us queuing last Thursday, we all wanted to speak to someone on the desk, but the woman refused to go behind the counter and serve us.Against company policy. Waited 30 minutes, so NOT impressed.
I spoke to Lloyds 'Customer Services' (a contradiction in terms) and then received a cookie cutter letter, outlining the % of customers who use online banking, % of personal and business customers, essentially the letter told me to suck it up and they had no intention of reversing their decision. So I am writing back to tell them that I am withdrawing all my current and savings account (as a % of my net worth, as they love percentages so much). I doubt they'll care but it'll make me feel better. The only quandary is where to bank now?

Yes, except you can no longer use the HSBC branch in Lordship Lane, because it's gone.

But (as above) you can use the Post Office.

However, excellent as First Direct are, the time you have to wait if you phone them has vastly increased lately.

I mostly use online banking, but sometimes with a query I just want to speak to somebody to get an answer straight away.

They are still a good bank. There is an HSBC in Rye Lane. Open until 5 pm. You could also look at TSB. They also have a branch in Rye Lane. I find it quite easy to post cheques to deposit to First Direct, if I don't want to go anywhere. Don't even need a paying in slip.

"You can pay in cheques at the Post Office but they take twice as long to clear - we noted that one of ours took 8 days."

Hopefully that will improve, even for the Post Office, when the Future Clearing Model is implemented (not sure of target date but think it's fairly soon).

Please read comments by elderly residents who will be affected by this closure and think of people who may not have access to online banking. Local businesses also will definitely suffer the negative financial impact. Sign this petition

Businesses use the branch to get change and cash-in cheques. People use the branch to deposit cash, cheques and financial services. There will be no cash point in the area so businesses likely to be affected in small transactions like in coffee shops where there is a minimum spend to use the card. Many people stop by to use the back and/or cash point and are likely to use the local businesses once in the area. Also people in crystal Palace use this branch as their own branch has closed last year, they will all be re-directed to East Dulwich. Next door business the hairdressers stated that they avoid going into the branch as there is always a queue. Everyone will be affected, there is no gain in closing the branch, no plans for a local cash point at the very least. Please support the petition...sign and share:
