Can I just say as the first person who responded to this ad, I think it is bad practice to advertise something at a set price and then allow forum members to bid for the item behind the scenes. If someone offers the original asking price, they should be in a contract of goodwill with the seller.

In my opinion the forum works best *for everyone* if it is run fairly and I think that means that items should be advertised either as 'offers welcome' or at a set price. It's unfair to move the goalposts after the fact.

It's up for the individuals to decide how they want to sell something. The forum just offers a platform for people to advertise, there's no rules on how to sell per-se apart from fairness, common sense, politeness and the law i.e. the Sales of Goods Act.

I turned up to buy this , this morning when I arrived someone else was looking at it , he said I'm first I would like it , I said ok and went to walk out , the buyer said wait I need to see how much they are offering , my reply I came to buy at price , the gentleman that brought it said sorry, definat not his fault and informed me he had 11.30 time as well , bad seller , waste of my time and expense getting there , really hope buyer got it cheaper , not good practice .

I had a few complaints about the table post. FYIO Aside from those who turned up to look at the table, 8 EDF members asked to buy the table, none of them replied to texts or actually turned up at the appointed time. This has happened almost every time we have advertised - not concerned, it is par for the course. My own experience of buying through EDF is that if you really really want something, you either pay ahead of time, go immediately to the location for pick up and/or pay over the advertised price.
