Morning all - after the third night of cocktail experimentation and early rising little darlings I'm thinking about all the chocs/turkey/nuts/alcohol I've consumed (Beth I hope you are not reading this) and ways of getting really trim in 2011.

I have a wonderful trainer (the aforementioned Beth) but need to supplement these training sessions with the gym (as it's freezing outside) and/or fitness videos. I've done Davina to death...

- has anyone got one of the new batch of fitness videos that they can recommend (bearing in mind I 'fall off' the step in step class so nothing too choreographed);-)

- can recommend a really good local gym (ideally with pool). This is my (ahem) treat to myself so could even go a bit posh on this (not sure there is a posh gym around here though??) I was considering Crystal Palace, Peckham Pulse, Dulwich Hamlets.. something with classes during the day would be really good.

Not sure about Dulwich Leisure Centre - is the gym still a duffer??

I'd really appreciate any help - and of course if anyone wants a seriously malcoordinated gym buddy.......... ;-)?

Crystal Palace for serious swimming (50m pool thats often empty, but not great if you don't swim well as its a bit deep and scary).

Otherwise I'm also a fan of Beckenham - fab creche open every morning that takes them from 6 weeks (I think) and a good range of classes, plus a decent 25m pool. I'm a member for me and my little girl, and we get 3 hours free creche and unlimited classes/pool/spftplay etc for just over ?40 a month. Takes 15/20 mins on a normal run from Ryedale.

    • PCSOs may not need specific qualifications, but they go through a reasonably rigorous recruitment process. Or at least they used to. It may have changed.
    • The ones I've dropped into may be organised by PCSOs in the SNT but regular PCs have attended. They have actually been a cuppa with a copper, but not necessarily loads of them.
    • @Pereira Neves "Cuppa with a Coppa" is a misrepresentation as PCSOs are not real police.   They have no more powers of arrest that any public citizen. They may have the "authority" to advise the regular police of a crime - just like Joe Public. One exception is that they can issue fixed penalty notices to people who cycle on a footpath. We see people cycling on the footpath every day but have never seen a PCSO issue a fixed penalty notice to anybody. No  qualifications are needed to become a PCSO.  At best, all they do is reassure and advise the public with platitudes.
    • Right.  Already too many people saying “labour pushed for longer and more stringent lockdowns” which if nothing else, does seem to give credence the notion that yes people can be brainwashed    Nothing ...  Nothing Labour pushed for was about longer lockdowns.  Explicitly, and very clearly they said “lock down early OR we will be locking down for longer “   ie they were trying to prevent the longer lockdowns we had   But “positive thinking” and “nothing to see here” from Johnson led to bigger problems    as for the hand-wavery about the economic inheritance and markets being spooked by labour budget - look - things did get really really and under last government and they tried to hide it.  So when someone tries to address it, no one is going to be happy.  But pretending all was tickety boo is a child’s response
