Preschooler Ukulele and musicianship classes for 3+, Thursdays and Fridays from the 20th April

Recommended Posts

This summer term, we're delighted that Nimble Tots will be running more new-starter preschooler ukulele and musicianship classes for little folks aged 3 and above with their parents and carers, run by Becky Dixon, director of Nimble Tots.

These are classes for children and parents/carers to participate in together, and be introduced to musical concepts in a fun interactive way! Our focus is on rhythm, pitch, composition, improvisation and enjoyment, with lots of movement, singing and games! At this age, we?re not expecting the little folk to learn lots of chords, but the aim of these classes is that through using the ukulele (and also listening to other instruments including Becky's cello) this is an early step in the journey of learning and enjoying music. Grown ups will participate alongside their kids, but there will be take home sheets for adults to learn more chords (if you have time!) and other songs too! We hope that the classes form a great foundation for learning other instruments (or more formal ukulele classes) further down the line!

Becky Dixon, who teachers these classes, is a very experienced teacher and EY specialist. She has taught cello, piano and ukulele for over ten years, is a previous apprentice on the prestigious LEYMN (London Early Years Music Network) scheme, and has run workshops at the Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre, Horniman Museum, BBC Proms, Barbican Centre and locally with Nimble Tots! She

Term two is only for participants who have already completed term one, and non-walking siblings are also welcome although ideally adults will be able to participate alongside their pre-schooler. Ideally we?d like the same adult to attend throughout the course, although of course we understand absolutely this is not always possible!

This is a 13 week term, and you need to book for the whole term, which runs from the w/c 17th April, with no class over half term. There is only space for a maximum of 7 adult/preschooler pairs per class, and you?ll need to bring a ukulele each.

THURSDAYS:

2.15pm: TERM ONE ? The Railway Telegraph, 112 Stanstead Road, SE23

FRIDAYS:

9am: TERM ONE ? The Ivy House, 40 Stuart Road, SE15

9.45am: TERM TWO ? The Ivy House, 40 Stuart Road, SE15

Price: ?91 for the full term block (?7 per session) for each adult/child pair.

Book in at https://bookwhen.com/nimbletots?tag=ukes ? class sizes are kept small, but there will be a waiting list if we are full. If we have a large waiting list, we?ll look into putting in an extra class, and I?m happy to arrange classes for groups of friends if you?d like to discuss a private course for another day!

Please email becky at [email protected] with any questions ? we?ll get some FAQs up here soon too!

    • Hello Megalaki84 ,   have you spoken to the restaurant about this the restaurant has never had this issue occur especially with 3 people at the same time i would be keen to see a health report based on this also if you can tell me date time you had come in and i can investigate this on your behalf as we have cameras in the kitchen to inspect our staff , our products are all labelled and thrown if out of date products especially when we have just recently been inspected by health and safety and have had 5 star rated.   i am not disputing that you have had food poisoning but its very unlikely this had been from us however i will be investigating this as a matter of duty as this is the last thing we want.   we have had thousands of customers and have no issues please feel free to direct message me details.   thanks, hakeem Thank you very much 🙏 Thank you for this sue i couldn’t agree with this more we make sure we have no out of date products and make sure we have a clean kitchen and front house to avoid any issues.
    • I agree on this point. I live in a one bedroom ground floor flat with a 2/3 bed flat above, should they build into the loft the negative impact below would be huge. Plus there is already only space (within the garden which is covered by the ground floor lease) for one wheelie bin per flat so unless Southwark decide to allow bins out on the pavements I am not sure where the additional waste produced by more residents will go! There are many things to consider when it comes to deciding on whether to grant planning permission that Southwark have never taken into account, hence the situation I guess they are in now.  From my point of view when part of the property is shared or owned by the freeholder in the case of flats I think the impact of extending, impact on any communal areas, space for bins etc should be taken into account. Every property is different so each case should be looked at differently. Look at some of the house being converted into 3 flats, they look very smart but now the tiny front gardens are full of bins, rubbish and bike sheds that must impact on the ground floor. Personally the appeal of living in a converted Victorian terrace dwindles when they become so small and crammed into a tiny house, might as well live in a purpose built block!
    • Hi all, We've just moved and I'm looking for a chest of drawers for the bedroom if anyone is getting rid of theirs?  Thanks,  Anya
    • Hello, After finding Lukas at L and L Building and Maintenance on this website I wanted to pay it forward and confirm him and his team definitely lived up to the positive reviews. Lukas and his team were extremely diligent with great attention to detail, and nothing that came up during the process was too much trouble for them. The team were very polite and great to have in the house as we were there alongside work being done. Any changes that came up were dealt with easily without any drama. We had a new bathroom and refurbished front of house including new steps etc, and a new loft hatch / boarding. Everything looks great and we are very happy - will 100% go to Lukas in the future for any other work will need and have been recommending to all of our friends.
