HollieES
Hi allMy son was born by Caesarian section 11 days ago. Although still very much recovering, I am feeling better by the day and am keen to start incorporating some exercise into my routine again.I'm starting with walking as that seems to be enough for now, but I'd be interested in joining a yoga or pilates group in the near future. Does anyone have any experience of doing these after a Caesarian, and if so, how long did you wait before starting? Are there any specialist classes locally?Any feedback, thoughts or advice much appreciated.Hollie x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14810-resuming-exercise-after-a-ceasarian/ Share on other sites
nylonmeals
Jelly Belly does just that. Started by Kellie who lives locally she does one to one or group classes (at Dulwich Therapy Rooms) specially designed for post c-section women. I worked with Kellie after my little boy was born earlier this year. She's lovely and it's a great gentle way back into fitnessKellie on 07985700879, email info@jellybellypt.comThink its 8 weeks that you're meant to wait but Kellie can tell youhttp://www.vitality-centre.com/courses/post-caesarean-pilates-courses/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14810-resuming-exercise-after-a-ceasarian/#findComment-391991 Share on other sites
newcomer
Do NOT rush it. I ended up ripping the top layer of c=section stitches... I felt very stupid, and the area I ripped took months longer to heal. Wait at least until your check up with the doctor at 6-8 weeks (and ideally even longer). After all, what's the rush? MrsR
I agree with newcomer - I had two c sections. Take it easy, bond with your baby at home in the warm. Put your feet up and rest whenever you can. Breastfeeding is the best way to get your body back in shape (but if you're not, don't beat yourself up about it). ClareC
The Internet has conflicting advice on this, definitely listen to your body, if it hurts, stop! I went skiing at 11 weeks post op, had no problems at all although did take it easy and stuck to on piste. candj
My consultant told me to wait until my 6 week checkup before resuming any exercise. At least have the doctor's go ahead before you start anything no matter how well you feel. I've had 2 sections and will be having my third in a weeks time so would think that pushing a newborn in a pram and going for long walks would be a good start. I did Liz's Powerpramming (user Goodliz) class in Dulwich Park with my first and really enjoyed it.Best of luck with your recovery. Goodliz
Hi, Congratulations on your new baby. You need to give it at least 10 weeks to recover before exercising. It is a major operation. Please see my website www.powerpramming.co.uk for details of my classes and general post natal exercise advice. All the best,Liz Stuart Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14810-resuming-exercise-after-a-ceasarian/#findComment-392150 Share on other sites
HollieES
Thanks everyone. Worry not...I'm in no rush to overdo it, but I know how quickly classes and courses fill up in East Dulwich so just wanted to put the feelers out there really and register my interest well in advance. The post c-sec pilates and the powerpramming both sound great, so thanks for pointing me in the direction of these.Hollie xHollieES Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Hi all> > My son was born by Caesarian section 11 days ago.> Although still very much recovering, I am feeling> better by the day and am keen to start> incorporating some exercise into my routine> again.> > I'm starting with walking as that seems to be> enough for now, but I'd be interested in joining a> yoga or pilates group in the near future.
