berryberry
I find the "what to expect" series of books have been really helpful. I didn't make it up to the toddler one as I find I can get all the same info on the net and having the book was just extra but if I got one book that would be it. randomv
Toddler taming by Christopher Green. It basically says there's nowt you can do but it does give a great insight into the toddlers mind and explain why certain approaches are counter productive. Definitely worth a read. Non-patronising, gentle and they work with the way you'd like to do it.
