Shaila Shah
Last night we shovelled the snow away from the pavement in front of our house and then put some salt down. If everyone did this, the streets would be much safer, would they not? Took about 10 minutes. So if middle aged people can do this, can't the young ones too?! louisiana
We (middle aged) cleared a substantial section of pavement on our road (a third of one side) before running out of grit on Wednesday. We've asked for more but none has been delivered yet. Difficult to clear without grit, owing to depth of snow up here, the road being narrower than normal (where do you put it!) and danger of creating thin sheet of ice on this steep hill, which would be worse than the powder snow.Only one or two cars have attempted to move - the second one ended up just sliding about the hill and half-blocking the road yesterday. Hope that hasn't prevented a grit delivery (the blockage was right next to our grit bin!) Tarot
Back in the day, people who were fit enough used to clear all their fronts and and pile it into snowmen. It used to look funny seeing a line of snowmen. Of course the kids loved it. This old tradition should be revived, then we,d have clearer streets, and some fun maybe.
