Presumably they are still paying their staff/rates/rent though despite the weather so haven't actually got the cash to hand back refunds?

I am sure they have the cash! Never had to take the day off before because of nursery closure so I don't know what the form is.

Due to limited availability we haven't made it all week. I'm hoping there's a refund to be had somewhere!

To be honest, I doubt they will but think they should. They aren't a charity, they are premium-priced private nursery, and part of a large company. The weather is unfortunate, but I see no reason why they should pass their costs on to their customers when they are unable to provide the service we pay for.

Shaggy, I agree. It is their inability to provide the service that, contractually, they are bound to do. It raises an interesting question though - what on earth do people do when their nusery is closed?

Work for home. My 15-month-old daughter was a great help today, handing me documents, throwing herself on to me whilst on a conf call, sending emails as well as doing a bit of typing....

But seriously, they should give a refund. It's their problem if they don't have staff.

Check your contracts, they should cover this situation, although any potential breach may be permitted in this situation if there is an appropriately worded force Majeure clause.
