ClareC
Totally sympathise, I'm laid back about it during the day, was told to get on with life and not tiptoe round the baby- seems to have worked, she sleeps through the hoovering being done! weirdly I always hate it when the bell goes at night! It's ok if she is already asleep, it's callers at the crucial 7 ish that get glared at!! Ironically the last one was a chap collecting for save the children!! Saffron
Have you tried hanging a sign over the knocker to say 'Baby Sleeping'? Oddly, Little Saff is usu ok with the door, but it always makes me jump! As for leaflets, don't even get me started. Imagine tryin to get buggy and baby out the door, with out letting naughty cat out the front, while sliding all over a pile of leaflets the size of Mont Blanc. Arrrgh. Knomester
I'm glad it's not just me who gets irrationally angry :-) I have been known to tape a note to the door asking people not to knock...! embo71
i have written a note on the door saying:knock loudly as have a baby and sometimes cant hear knocker BUT not after 7pm when baby is sleeping.....it seems to work..?!?! i think any door to door salesman think 'mad mum answering door? no thanks' and dont knock at all and anyone else we know and they can ring us first... Keef
Another vote for putting a note on the door saying something like "please don't calll after 7pm, baby sleeping". Then if they still knock, you have every right to tell them to f**k off. supergolden88
Forget knockers we have a doorbell that quite apart from being incredibly loud also frequently sticks and wont stop ringing until you unjam it. Other pet hate: cold callers calling to sell me insurance/tv packages/energy packages etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14516--/#findComment-387120 Share on other sites

The Nappy Lady
When sitting in our front room, the front door is in hall right 'behind' where I sit - when girls were little if anyone knocked on the door they would jump out of their little babygrows/startle awake etc!! At that point I got a doorbell and put a note on the door saying "Please ring bell, don't knock, new baby in house" and it did seem to work (so many people send parcels for new baby, poor postmen must be a bit paranoid!!)....but every battery operated doorbell we have seems to go kaput after a couple of months and stop working, so now girls are 2 and 6 I've gone back to the good old door knocker, and now have to put up a sign saying "Knock HARD, can't always hear over the children"!!!LOL, how life goes in circles...... Sanne Panne
A grumpy "no soliciting" sign takes care of 50% of those... supergolden88 Wrote:> Other pet hate: cold callers calling to sell me> insurance/tv packages/energy packages etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14516--/#findComment-387148 Share on other sites
