Where do they come up with these monthly features anyway? I saw a monthly feature in a mag a while back about how being smart and a women doesn't have to mean dressing frumpy anymore. (Well, whoever said it did in the first place?! I digress.)

The article went on to give a list of the names of exceeding expensive clothing labels, citing some famous women who wear them (Queen of Jordan, some fashionists, etc).

I just thought: Bollocks to that! You know what smart, REAL women wear??? They wear clothing that's comfortable and doesn't break the bank, so they can pay the bills and look after themselves (and children if they have them). xxxx

Hi midivydale and spanners45 - so 2 years ago i was where you are now and this thread was invaluable. I loved being a Mummy but I had no faith in myself

My children are now 5 and 3 and are at school and nursery and I have met some true lifelong friends from the EDF (one of whom i was drunk with tonight - ha ha and you both know her!!!). I'm still overweight but am making great losses and am definitely feeling more confident about myself (it's been a long old journey though!)

I'm still a SAHM however literally in the last few days am starting up a little business (i'll let you all know once it's up and running cos i'll need your support) but i can't tell you how excited i am. I'm buzzing, i'm using my brain and imagination and although it won't pay the mortgage and probably not even birthday presents it will still pay for ice creams in the park and that's seriously exciting!!!

So I suppose what i'm trying to say is please please continue with saying hello to strangers at playgroups, it was truly amazing when this thread first came out and gave us all a little bit of confidence that we were perhaps lacking due to being tied, carrying baby weight and feeling a bit scared!!!

There is a light i promise you and life does get easier (but it's very easy for me to say this, but please trust me it's true).

Although i'm kind of out of that tunnel i honestly would love to meet anyone who's struggling and needs a friendly face and cuddle - just pm me and i'm yours (not literally obviously!!!)

and yet again, i'm posting while drunk - when will i learn :)

    • There's been a spate of phone snatching around East Dulwich station and along Lordship Lane. But don't let that put you off the area, these things come and go. I've never had an issue late at night in the areas you talk about and I've been around here for 18yrs (before I moved I had the same concerns as you). Go visit your areas late at night at different times for your own peace of mind (I did)
    • Posted September 20, 202Hello all Hello all Just a quick message to say I've just had a job postponed so I have some time available to do some work for you if you should need a painter around the end of the month. I also do a variety of other jobs too so if anyone needs a handyman, please feel free to get in touch. Happy to do a free quote. Thanks for reading
    • So sorry to hear this. Our bike was stolen from outside Dulwich Library earlier this month. We had a D Lock and they still got through. Probably the same person who’s just cruising up and down the lane. I hope you find it.
    • Hi, I would like to raise some awareness around East Dulwich especially on Lordship lane.  Today my bike electric bike was stolen from in front of my house between the hours of 9:00 and 10:45. If anyone see anything I would be very grateful.  Please do not use a chain lock to lock your bike. Preferably a d-lock. My bike was double locked with two chains and they still manage to take it. Be careful and be aware of Thief.  Here are some pictures of my bike. If you see or hear anything I would really appreciate it.
