pommie
We woke up this morning to find out that our 2 year old had emptied the entire contents of the vicks vapour rub onto her hair. i have washed it this morning but its still not out. Wondered if anyone had any ideas on how i can remove this completely from her hair. candj
Can you try using 'grownup' shampoo and repeating the washing/rinsing process until it feels like it's gone? Just be careful (as you know) not to get this mixture into their eyes as the vapours can be strong. I did this after finding my youngest had rubbed an entire large tub of sudocrem into her hair, face, sheets, walls and I used my own shampoo which I believe is much stronger/soapier than her organic, sodium laurl sulfate-free baby shampoo! Good luck! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14379-advice-needed-re-vicks-vapour-rub-in-hair/#findComment-384164 Share on other sites

Saffron
Vapour rub is in an oily base. First you need another oily base to dissolve the vapour rub. Then a soap (good shampoo) to break-up the oil. I would recommend trying plain vaseline/petrolium jelly, then a good shampoo and condition. You can also try peanut butter or vegetable oil. (This method also works to get gum out of hair.)
