In North Norfolk you will often find local shops get together to do Christmas lights. Burnham Market and Holt look like something out of a fairy story at Christmas. It pays for itself as so many people go to see the lights and spend money.

Have just driven through Dulwich Village and can't believe that yet again Southwark has dipped back into it's tired dusty decorations box and put up the same crappy Christmas lights. Does anyone agree we should try and raise some money to pay for new, simple but pretty, white lights? Lordship Lane and Duwlich Village are top shopping locations and the Christmas lights badly let them down. I know in this difficult time that new lights might seem trivial but I think the Council and the shops would agree that new lights would be good for business, and would almost certainly generate extra revenue.

    • My grandchildren would be most bemused if they were sent a cheque!  And what a faff! They would have to pay it into a bank anyway, wouldn't they? How does that work, if they don't have a bank account? Even if they do,  sending money by BACS is quicker and easier. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to buy a stamp, and the money  can't get "lost" or delayed in the post. They have the use of the money immediately, buy something they want with it, then tell me/show me  what they bought. Better all round for everybody, in my opinion, though I accept everybody is different. I know people who still want to bring back pounds shillings and pence 🙄
