CALM, CONFIDENT BREASTFEEDING WORKSHOP FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS

When I had my son back in 2010, I found the antenatal breastfeeding classes desperately disappointing. They seemed to focus purely on how easy and natural it was, and as such I entered the world of breastfeeding hugely naive and uninformed. We were offered no information about the realities of feeding ? day-to-day practicalities, timings, amounts, hunger cues, mixed feeding, routines, how to look after ourselves when feeding, what hurdles we might encounter and how to access the right support for a positive journey. It?s fair to say that the reality of breastfeeding was a big shock to me, and it wasn?t until I found the right support ? postnatally ? that I enjoyed or even felt engaged in feeding my son. I know that I would have had a much more positive experience if I felt really clued up and prepared ahead of Oscar?s arrival, and that?s what I want to bring to every one of you.

I don?t have an agenda with breastfeeding. I believe breast milk is nutritionally superior to formula, but I strongly believe that each woman ? as with birth ? has the right to make decisions based on what feels right for her and her baby. I also believe that she will make happier decisions if she is informed, armed with the knowledge, tools and techniques to make her journey more calm, positive and engaging. Happy mum. Happy baby.

And that?s exactly why I?ve scoured to find the most wonderful lactation specialist I can, Imogen Unger, and collaborated to offer you an outstanding antenatal workshop covering everything you need to know about feeding your baby.

This woman-only workshop lasts for 2.5 hours, and covers:

How breastfeeding works ? supply and demand, let down reflex, importance of emptying the breast

How to establish a good milk supply

Identifying early feeding cues

Positions for breastfeeding

How your partner can support you

How to know if your baby is getting enough milk

Size of a baby?s stomach/understanding milk volume

Poo and wee (of course!)

Troubleshooting ? mastitis, sore nipples, top-up trap, tongue-tie

Expressing

Mixed feeding

Paced bottle feeding

Returning to work

Your questions answered

A full handout pack that you can take home and share with your partner

The next workshop will run on Monday 24th April, 10.00am?12.30pm in East Dulwich. Tickets are ?45.

There are a maximum of 12 places to ensure that everyone has the chance to ask questions and receive personally tailored support. These workshops book up very quickly. Places will go on a strictly first come, first served basis, so if you would like a place, please book now using the link below.

    • Hello Megalaki84 ,   have you spoken to the restaurant about this the restaurant has never had this issue occur especially with 3 people at the same time i would be keen to see a health report based on this also if you can tell me date time you had come in and i can investigate this on your behalf as we have cameras in the kitchen to inspect our staff , our products are all labelled and thrown if out of date products especially when we have just recently been inspected by health and safety and have had 5 star rated.   i am not disputing that you have had food poisoning but its very unlikely this had been from us however i will be investigating this as a matter of duty as this is the last thing we want.   we have had thousands of customers and have no issues please feel free to direct message me details.   thanks, hakeem Thank you very much 🙏 Thank you for this sue i couldn’t agree with this more we make sure we have no out of date products and make sure we have a clean kitchen and front house to avoid any issues.
    • I agree on this point. I live in a one bedroom ground floor flat with a 2/3 bed flat above, should they build into the loft the negative impact below would be huge. Plus there is already only space (within the garden which is covered by the ground floor lease) for one wheelie bin per flat so unless Southwark decide to allow bins out on the pavements I am not sure where the additional waste produced by more residents will go! There are many things to consider when it comes to deciding on whether to grant planning permission that Southwark have never taken into account, hence the situation I guess they are in now.  From my point of view when part of the property is shared or owned by the freeholder in the case of flats I think the impact of extending, impact on any communal areas, space for bins etc should be taken into account. Every property is different so each case should be looked at differently. Look at some of the house being converted into 3 flats, they look very smart but now the tiny front gardens are full of bins, rubbish and bike sheds that must impact on the ground floor. Personally the appeal of living in a converted Victorian terrace dwindles when they become so small and crammed into a tiny house, might as well live in a purpose built block!
    • Hi all, We've just moved and I'm looking for a chest of drawers for the bedroom if anyone is getting rid of theirs?  Thanks,  Anya
    • Hello, After finding Lukas at L and L Building and Maintenance on this website I wanted to pay it forward and confirm him and his team definitely lived up to the positive reviews. Lukas and his team were extremely diligent with great attention to detail, and nothing that came up during the process was too much trouble for them. The team were very polite and great to have in the house as we were there alongside work being done. Any changes that came up were dealt with easily without any drama. We had a new bathroom and refurbished front of house including new steps etc, and a new loft hatch / boarding. Everything looks great and we are very happy - will 100% go to Lukas in the future for any other work will need and have been recommending to all of our friends.
