mammab
im not sure if this topic has been covered at all anywhere else, but i was wondering if there were any specifically lesbian/gay bars in or around ED at all? ive got a couple of girl mates coming to stay with me from Oz soon who have have recently got married - and as much as they'll be more than happy in any of the bars in ED (because they are all fabulous!) im sure they would also enjoy a night of gaying it up a bit locally as well! James
Yes it has been discussed; sadly no gay places per se. Your best bet locally is probably the Rye Bar & Grill next to Peckham Rye, very gay friendly and usually a few lesbians in there on any given night. Jamma
When I first moved to E Dul it was the most lesbian place I'd ever seen. You could hardly move for lesbians in love. Where have they all gone? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1426-girly-bars-in-ed/#findComment-39037 Share on other sites

Jah Lush
I once worked on a local rag called What's On In Stoke Newington, it was a small piece of paper with F**k All written on it. SeanMacGabhann
Interestingly (for me anyway) it is because of Stoke Newington that I discovered ED - what's the beef with Stokey? badger
Hmmm - as above no lesbian places per se, but I have noticed a slightly-above-average-lesbian-clientele at:- Green and Blue (extraordinarily high number of lesbian couples)- Black Cherry (but less me at the moment as am boycotting due to excellent-cocktail-making-Southie-barman being on holiday or some such nonsense - pah)ZERO sightings in the Rye. Only gay men. Also - looks like there'll be quite a few of us at forum drinks on Friday :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1426-girly-bars-in-ed/#findComment-39467 Share on other sites

david_carnell
I believe Clapham has a actual gay bar called the Two Brewers. Is that a euphemism? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1426-girly-bars-in-ed/#findComment-86141 Share on other sites

SteveT
Blackheath had an unusually thick sprinkling of gay and lesbian wine bars, don't know if it is still the case today though. cazzyr
Hello,Diva did a piece on The Black Cherry as a lesbian friendly bar last year. It does attract a mixed crowd and is probably the most gay friendly in East Dulwich. SeanMacGabhann
Not being a lesbian myself I have to rely on the votes of my lesbian friends when they come to stay - and in their opinionInside 72Black CherryBishop on a good night but on a bad night with too many geezers it's a no-noThey have a fondness for the waitress in Tandoori Nights as well - but then we all doSlightly further (but not really) the Rye has always seemed to be the most populated Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1426-girly-bars-in-ed/#findComment-86495 Share on other sites

SeanMacGabhann
sometimes it seems like she's hitting on us (to this day my girl friend (who isn't my girlfriend) is convinced she was the object of affection))Other times she just HITS us - we have been walking along the Lane, bumped into her and had her order us to wait and then follow her up the road... happy to oblige but still...
