Liz8685
I've always given mine away on this forum - loads of gardeners out there use it! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/142466-recycling-polystyrene/#findComment-1104819 Share on other sites
singalto
I break it up and put it in the bottom of plant pots and window boxes as it helps with drainage. intexasatthe moment
Good question jeanne . Not answered on Southwark's recycling page .Personally I put it in the green bin . I tend to look for the triangular recycling mark on stuff I'm not sure about ( like the trays that meat comes in ) and I don't see it I assume it's not recylable .Hope someone comes along with the answer . hugha
Does anyone have any polystyrene kicking about please? We need to fill the bottom of our planter for drainage, about 1.5m square. Thanks everyone. DulwichFox
After a kitchen refurb I had some huge pieces of Polystyrene from my new Fridge, Oven, Washing machine, Took them to Devon Street recycling Depot. It all goes in the General Waste. Not recyclable. DulwichFox. heleng51
Thanks for that, really useful. Seems such a waste though (excuse the pun). From my research it seems it is possible to recycle but no councils want to collect it yet. Can't even find a London based private recycling depot.Anyone else out there could make use of it before it goes to waste? IlonaM
If you pop it on the For sale section you might have interest from gardeners!!! Excellent for bottom of planters etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/142466-recycling-polystyrene/#findComment-1283491 Share on other sites
