Is anyone on Orange and not using their code for today? Have two daughters up in town who would be happy to make use of it!

Reading the talk talk thread I thought that maybe instead of trying to bully people into using their dubious service they could instead try to entice people by doing something innovative like Orange.

Orange Wednesday is a excellent promotion, so much so that I actually feel a little guilty abusing it in this manner!! (Still, it's their own falt, no Orange reception where I live so I'm stuck with O2 for the time being.)

What did you have to do Sue? Hubby bought me an Orange mobile years ago, but it sits at the bottom of a bag as I don't know how to use it. Does the Orange Wednesday thing involve texting (which is alien to me)? And if I wanted someone else to benefit from my OW, would I be compromising anything (such as security - or whatever)?

All the instructions are on the Orange website - google Orange Wednesdays.

You do have to text, but it's easy - you just text FILM to 241. It costs 35p.

You are then sent a text message containing a code, which you give to the cinema.

The terms and conditions say "Text tickets are non-transferable" and "We will only accept original text tickets, unless acquired from mobile broadband onto a laptop or PDA."

I had written my code down but they asked to see the message on the phone, but don't know if that was because they couldn't read my writing :))

The T&C also say that tickets are issued on a priority basis to active Orange mobile customers spending over ?5 a month with Orange or Orange broadband. So sounds like you wouldn't be eligible anyway if you're not using your phone.

You are right - I wouldn't be eligible. Thank you so much for such a full reply Sue.

Weegee, I have this thing (which has been sitting at the bottom of my ruck-sack for years) which I do not know how to use. As far as I am concerned I (effectively) don't have a mobile. And as for the number, I haven't a clue! It should properly be in a museum...remind me to show you it when I see you next.

Ladymuck, if you really don't use a mobile and don't text, how do you contact people when you are out and about?

I resisted both for ages, and now I can't imagine how I did without them :)

I originally bought a mobile after my car broke down - by extraordinary great luck (it was in the country) I was quite near a phone box, but the next day I was off to Carphone Warehouse :))

Yep, but it's not enforced. I always just read the code out to the cashier.

    • I once had some very grumpy buyers, I'd moved heaven and earth and compromised a little on price, was tempted just to tell them where to go and put it back on the market - I wanted to get rid but could hang on longer.  I bit my lip, and they sent me a very stroppy email which I deleted without reading. Ideally we'd get on with our buyers and sellers, always try to meet them, and you can often sort out issues directly.  Estate agents tend to not like you have the other parties details. I've generally had more problems with the ones I've not met. It can be stressful for both sides.  You often get an inkling whey you know that they may be awkward, and that includes going the other way with a last second increase in price when markets are moving upwards.  Again, bad karma!
