i think this has been touched on before but i just want to sound people out on this latest twist. Just arrived home at 10.30am and parcel left by front door. As it happens i work mainly from home but the ever-changing postmen don't know that. Is there any kind of official policy to dump things that don't fit in letterbox or do they simply do it because they can't be bothered to write card and carry it back to the sorting office. I presume it's the latter, but is there any point in complaining? I remember one complaint mentioned on another thread prompting a tirade of abuse from a postie. I suppose they could argue that they were doing it to help me out and save me a trip to the depot, but that wouldn't do much good if someone else helped themselves to the package.

I?ve complained about my post problems a while ago. So the postie complained to me about complaining about him. So I complained about him complaining to me about me complaining about him. I haven?t heard back yet?

Since then the new wireless router that I ordered online was left on the doorstep. Admittedly I didn?t have to go to the sorting office on Saturday morning but it could have been nicked. I am also waiting for 2 other parcels that should have arrived at least a week ago. Now admittedly these could have been lost anywhere along the way but so many things have gone missing that I am deeply suspicious that the problem is with the ED postal service.

An update since this morning ? there was a knock at my door around 1pm and it was the parcels postie with more packages (strange cos i rarely get one a week, but that's by the by....). I asked him if he had left the package by the door this morning and he said yes, he thought he was saving me a trip to collect it. I asked him not to do it in future which he seemed to accept, so hopefully all sorted. Until the next change of staff...

    • I'd like to recommend Jordan from Gutter Maintenance Tech who we used recently to replace our tired and rotting soffits and facia board and guttering.  They use their own scaffold tower so it works out cheaper than other contractors but the work itself is of an excellent standard.  They said they would take two days and they stuck to this in spite of horrendous weather conditions.  Lovely people - we'd use them again with no reservations. https://www.gmtltd.org/

    • What I don't understand is those that are clamouring for this says there is an urgent need for more teachers yet they also say there are lots of places at schools for the children leaving private school due to dwindling pupil numbers (at primary especially). Surely then the teacher "gap" can, in part, be plugged by this?   This does seem a very blinkered, dog whistle attack on a certain part of private education and it will be interesting to see how the courts (and Europe) views it. Given the government accelerated the rollout to happen in the middle of a school year (which no-one thought was a good idea) probably shows they may not believe they are on strong ground - it feels like a "beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission" situation.
