AcedOut
Before long we'll have lost the ability to have a 'live' conversation with people, resorting only to social networks and forums. How sad. LeoB
He came to my house today too. Said it would be 10 quid and then 5 per month. I only came on here to warn people, and now see that I'm not the first. I said I wouldn't give him any money until the work was done. He said his guys couldn't take cash, but would turn up at 4.30, then he would arrive to collect payment at 6.30. It is now 6.47 and I haven't seen either him or his imaginary friends... Feeling smug I rumbled him, but I could easily have trusted him and paid.Verdict: con man. cate
LeoB, He told you his guys would turn up 430 pm to wash windows at this time of year? It's getting pretty dark by then....You really believed him? I have the number of a good window cleaner if you want it. Loz
Without giving your addresses away, where is this conman operating? kjcroft
I think the same guy was operating in Landcroft Rd this afternoon. He told me he cleaned my neighbours windows but needed to get round the back of the house and would be back on Friday to do so. He was asking a lot of questions about when they would be home which roused my suspicions, so I checked with my neighbours tonight and it transpires they don't have a window cleaner. Definitely some dodgy goings on, I am just cross with myself that I didn't pay better attention to his appearance as I was busy when he called and am not sure I could give a description. He was going under the name of Dean. FatherJack
Just had this guy call offering to do all my windows and paintworkfor ?20, a too good to be true price and I said no. He tried to be persistant but NO!!! He's white, late 40's/early 50's and today was wearing a blue sweatshirt with a Poppy pinned toit. It's vague as he was backing down the path away from my barking dogs. Very very chatty and is apparently working on a house a couple of door down the Grove. Penguin68
I get my windows cleaned back and front (not 3rd story) for ?25 (semi) - might not be completely unreasonable depending on size/ number of windows. Key issue is to pay only after the event, never up-front. FatherJack
Appreciate what you say Penguin and he was only offering to do front of house but windows and paint work for three storys......less than minimum wage! And couldn't agree more, only pay after job completed. new mother
Why are people being so rude? The op is asking a reasonable question. I suspect he is a con man owing to the card thing or maybe shy and didn't have a card.it doesn't matter. Pay after the event and, even if raining etc outside, don't let in while you go to get money.
