Maybe underneath it all, Trump actually wants out, and he?s been seeding the ways for some time.

He realised he couldn?t just leave or loose in the usual way. So he?s set up this ?fraud? idea, like bags of votes being found at 4 in the morning, etc.

He ultimately knows he?s lost, but he needs to look like he?s been robbed or his cult-like followers might drift away. This way he can be the ?people?s (Republicans) President? from here on in, lobbing his ideas and views into the mix to his followers ad nauseam. And shouting in from the sidelines and future rallies (they?ll be like a dystopian version of the old Harlem Globetrotters tour) with Trump slam dunking his old ?lock her up? and ?build the wall? slogans, with merch and 2 litre gulp cups with built in straws, for sale at the merch stand in the lobby of the event) and as the years go on, he?ll age into an old Evil Knevil like character, making claims like ?I?m going to jump the Grand Canyon on a rocket, only it?ll be a green screen and Trump will be on in Vegas for a season, like a bloated Elvis, where you can buy tickets and an eat all you like buffet for a thousand bucks.

Narcissism is the key word here. What we're gonna see over the next few months is a narcissist kicking and screaming as much as possible. The presidency didn't help his narcissism. People just saying yes to him and the echo chamber of people saying "they love you" or "you're the best president" emboldened him to believe he's legitimately the greatest person to have ever lived.

It's gonna be glorious to watch him thrash and kick about whilst every member of the GOP bails on him as they value their career more than Trump's. It's already happening in some instances. He's gonna get hung out to dry.

The country is better off without any members of the Trump family around.

The key exercise for those around him now (both Rep and Dem), if they are true patriots concerned about America as a nation, is to limit the damage he is likely to wilfully inflict on the structures, processes and people within reach.

Don?t care about America.

He doesn?t care about Republicans or the Republican party.

He doesn?t really care about the presidency, it is just a vehicle for self-betterment of him and his family.

Hopefully today puts a halt to any ambitions his children had of being either president or in government, they are a nasty lot and we are best rid as soon as possible

It?s a shame to see all those people refusing to accept the result of a democratic vote.

I realise that on the popular vote Biden has only polled just over 50% and some people would say that isn?t a majority and definitely not a people?s vote, will of the people etc.

Perhaps they think the voters for Biden were lied to, didn?t know what they were voting for and so on.

The messaging coming from the inner circle is that Trump would agree to a non disruptive handover if certain conditions were met. That could literally be anything of course but I would hazard a guess that immunity from prosecution over his tax and loan affairs might be in there. Moe than that, it sounds as though he is going to try and blackmail his way out of the White House door and that is absolutely something that can not be allowed to happen.Time for the law to show him who is boss.

But it remains a glib reponse to a extremely serious situation

When I say a referendum is not the same as an election, it's clear I'm referring to the fact that elections cycles are the democratic norm, well-established and are able to be reversed in subsequent elections - people can be upset about their outcome but they can be judged and reversed. Johnson got his 80 seat majority last year but there was no movement to nullify or recount the election result

Referendums - specifically the shape and manner in which it was handled of THIS referendum - throws all that out the window. It's a massive, self-inflcited wound at the best of times, and criminal in the middle of a pandemic.

Any other grown up country would have built in thresholds for such a momentous decision, or a mechanism to ratify. Indeed several leavers talked about this ratification pre referendum

And it remains a referendum built on an undeliverable promise. It is not a referendum about divorce, abortion, gun-control whatever

I know all of these are old points. But they remain as factual and true as ever

That referendum will destroy the united kingdom and SHOULD be reversed before it's too late. And that is something that is now near-impossible but still something we could work towards.
