I cam down with this Sunday night - was ill all night (on the loo whilst simultaneously vomiting) through to Monday morning and have then felt DREADFUL and weak for 3 days - only feeling normal again now and have been unable to go to work or look after my baby!

I went to a regular playgroup today and it seems it has affected 4 other mums I know of this week.

Interestingly most said their little ones had a mild case before they then got it...and my little lady vomited up her dinner in her sleep Friday night followed by diarrhea but was then ok - I then came down hard Sunday night

Therefore as the virus can be spread by nappies or airborne bacteria after vomit I would suggest you be really careful if your little one is sick at the moment - take extra care washing your hands after changing nappies etc....it's a very debilitating and unpleasant.

Joy!

All three of us are suffering with it now.

Here's what we had

12 hrs of being sick every hour

12 hrs of nausea and occasional sickness

Incubation period of 1.5 days post exposure to infected person

I spent the whole night up with our son (the dad was too poorly himself to hlep)

I then went into work the next day exhausted but feeling fine

... Just had an email from my colleague and he's just come down with it too

This is highly highly contagious and pretty miserable

Nothing u can do except sip water

:(

Sounds exactly the same Saila - I hope you all feel better soon.

One of my NCT friends in the area just emailed and she too came down with it early this morning.

1.5 days sounds about right too as I was exposed to my baby's vomit etc in the early hours of Saturday morning and it struck me Sunday night

Definitely sip water regularly if you can - I think my slow recovery was partly due to my dehydration - can't stomach dioralyte etc and was not forcing myself to drink fluids.

4 days on and feeling 'ok' but shattered

There are a few things you can do - but mainly to prevent it spreading.

The obvious thing is handwashing - with soap and water rather than just alcho-rub after all nappy changes/cleaning vomit etc.

The thing that often gets missed is to steer clear of work/activities until 48hrs after symptoms stopped. Until this point it can still be passed on.

Unfortunately there are always gastroenteritis bugs around - the frequency lessens slightly over the summer but is still around, am sure if more knew/stuck to the 48hr rule there'd be less around.

    • The problem is Starmer can't shut up about his dad being a tool maker, they made Keir,  a right prize tool. Reeves continually blames the previous Govt, but correct me if I'm wrong but inflation was decreasing, unemployment was stagnant, with decreases and the occasional increase, things were beginning to stabalise overall.    Then we had the election 4 July when Starmer and co swept to power, three months on things are worse than they were before, yet Reeves continues to blame the former Govt. The national debt doubled overnight with public sectors all getting a wage increase and now the budget that penalises business with the increase in Employers national insurance. The result of which will be increased prices in the shops, increased inflation, increased numbers of redundancies, increased unemployment and increased pressures on the DWP to fund this    Future growth will go backwards and become negative, farmers will no longer farm in protest against the Govt, more people will become poorer and unable to pay their bills, things will spiral out of control and we'll have a repeat of the General Strike until this bunch of inept politicians resign and Kemi and co prevent the ship from hitting the iceberg and sinking.
    • Indeed so.  Just noting there are other options and many children and indeed young adults may well be perplexed and/or irritated by a cheque.
    • My experience of the CT is that when they screw up, their first instinct is to cover up. They are also shameless liars.
    • And that's your choice, but it's not everyone's choice.  Some people don't like or can't do what you do.
